Keeping the dream alive

The PBR event at Cheyenne Frontier Days is an event that I think all the riders look forward to. It's always good to see it on the schedule, and you know it's going to be a great one when you show up. But I think this year was extra special – not only the bulls, but man, there were some awesome rides.

I felt like I rode to the best of my ability and still snuck in there at third. There was just that much quality. You look at how many 90-point rides were at one event. The guys came to ride. Not only does it make it great to watch, but it makes it tough to place.

I still don’t know Jack when it comes to Portuguese

As I sit in Gendai, a Japanese restaurant at the airport here in Sao Paulo, I thought I'd share a few more lasting impressions that I haven't been able to blog about from the week that was.

First off, once you begin to see the pictures and videos of the arena in Rio Preto keep in mind that the entire structure is temporary and was built specifically for this event. Trust me when I say, you'll have a much better understanding of how much work went into that once you see it.

Bringing fans closer to the sport

I want to thank all the fans that tuned in last week for the first-ever live web broadcast of a PBR Built Ford Tough Series event in Tulsa, Okla. I have heard a lot of great comments about the event and the broadcast. I enjoyed reading all the comments on my blog last week, and I invite you to continue to engage with your questions and comments every week. I will try my best to answer any questions you have ASAP.

I am excited about the future plans that the PBR is developing right now with their web-based content. Believe me when I say a lot of new things are coming that will bring fans closer to the sport than ever before.

No wonder everyone is so happy

I finally figured out the key to happiness.

Even though everything seems to happen so late at night everyone still wakes up early and goes about their normal day, which, in America, would certainly make for a cranky start to anyone's day. But here, in Brazil, everybody you meet is unusually happy.

Apparently I laugh in Portuguese

Saturday night was not only one of the most exciting experiences I've had a bull riding event, but it was one of the most exciting of any evening. And I'd like to think I've had some memorable experiences in the past, so that says a lot.

Burning of the garlic

First things first, these people know how to cook food and as Jeff Robinson told me last weekend, "You look like you feed well."

Sensory overload

At this point, it had been 31 hours since I had last stretched out and slept in a bed, but somewhere in there I managed about five hours of sleep on the flight from Atlanta to Sao Paulo. Camila asked if I want to get some rest and start fresh Saturday morning.

Minivans are cool in Brazil (at least this one was)

After flying into Sao Paulo, I had one last commuter flight to take from there to Sao Jose do Rio Preto, which seemed easy enough considering nearly all the signs in the airport are written in English as well as Portuguese.

The happiest place on Earth

I have to admit that the 10-hour flight from Atlanta to Sao Paulo wasn't anything like what I expected it to be. As a whole I've suppressed any expectations regarding this trip, so that I can just enjoy the experience – whatever might unfold in the course of the next few days – for what it is in the moment.

Back on the Built Ford Tough Series

They called me at the beginning of this week and told me that I made the cut for the next five events. I'm looking forward to being back on the Built Ford Tough Series. Chris Shivers told me a long time ago that it's not about getting on tour, it's about staying on tour. Truer words have never been said.

A lot of people kind of feel a sense of accomplishment just getting there, but that's not even half the battle. It's staying there once you get there.
