2009 World Champion Lostroh wins in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. - The only rider to ride three bulls, 2009 Professional Bull Riders World Champion Kody Lostroh won the PBR Built Ford Tough Series Express Classic Presented By WinStar World Casino on Saturday at the BOK Center. It was the first event win for Lostroh since 2010, and earned him $40,023 and helped him move up to 18th in the world standings.

Lostroh sat in second place after the first day of action, before riding Bad Blake (Wolf Creek Cattle Company) for 87 points in Round 3 to move into the lead. His score of 263.75 points was enough to clinch the win before he attempted Lightmaker.com Rango (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. Lostroh had the high-marked ride of the weekend with 90.25 points on Jack Daniel's After Party (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo) to win the short round on Friday.

Chase Outlaw, who was the leader after the first two rounds, finished second with 178 points, followed by Ty Pozzobon with 171.25 points. Valdiron de Oliveira finished fourth in the event to remain the top-ranked rider in the BFTS standings.

Defending World Champion Bull Bushwacker won the Pabst Blue Ribbon Bull Award for being the high-marked bull of the event, earning 46.25 points out of a possible 50 points. Bushwacker bucked off Mason Lowe in 2.31 seconds. Asteroid, who was the runner-up for World Champion Bull a year ago, had the second-highest score with 46 points. Asteroid bucked off Justin Koon in 2.19 seconds.

Oliveira has been the world's top-ranked rider following each of the past seven BFTS events, and 11 times after the first 19 events. Oliveira has 8,675 points, and increased his lead over No. 2 L.J. Jenkins to 959.5 points. Defending World Champion Silvano Alves is in third place, while 2008 World Champion Guilherme Marchi is in fourth place, and J.B. Mauney is in fifth place.

The first 20 events of the season have produced 17 different winners with the only multiple winners being Mauney (three wins) and Alves (two wins). Mauney posted his three victories in the first 12 events of the season, before breaking his hand.

The BFTS will return to the AT&T Center in San Antonio on Friday, Aug. 17, and Saturday, Aug. 18, for the Bass Pro Shops Chute Out presented by Cooper Tires. Bull riding begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, and at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18. Tulsa is the 20th stop of the 2012 BFTS season, which opened in January with capacity crowds at Madison Square Garden in New York. The BFTS will make 28 stops in 23 states before the Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Oct. 24-28. The World Finals are where the PBR World Champion will be crowned and awarded the coveted championship buckle and a $1 million bonus. The richest bull riding event on the planet, the World Finals has a total purse of more than $2 million.
