LAS VEGAS - It won't fit in a stocking, or even under a tree,
but the ultimate holiday gift for any PBR fan is a bull.
"I think everyone who loves the PBR would be over the moon to become a bull owner, and the Back Seat Buckers (BSB) program has some great ones for sale on Thursday (Dec. 6) in Las Vegas," Joe Baumgartner said. "Since we can care, feed and train the bull at our facility in Colorado and haul the bull to compete at events for the new owners, getting a bull for Christmas would actually be less work for someone than getting a puppy!"
Now a member of the elite team of Back Seat Buckers trainers, Baumgartner is preparing for the Back Seat Buckers Bull Sale at South Point Arena. After spending the last season with the inaugural class of BSB Futurity bulls, Baumgartner is proud of what they accomplished and the potential that they have shown after being bucked with a cowboy for the first time last month.
Six bulls in particular in the sale have caught Baumgartner's eye: 1 Hammerin Hank, 51 California Quake, 32 Slim, 05 (BSB 58), 628 (BSB 141) and 105 Ariat's Mr. October.
"Since we can care, feed and train the bull at our facility in Colorado and haul the bull to compete at events for the new owners, getting a bull for Christmas would actually be less work for someone than getting a puppy!"
"I'm really excited to see these bulls buck again with a
rider at the sale on Thursday," Baumgartner said. "Anyone in Las
Vegas should definitely come out and see it."
Baumgartner has seen more than his fair share of bucking bulls. The legendary PBR bullfighter has gotten up close and personal to some of the best bulls the industry has ever produced.
"If people are interested in turn-key bull ownership, but want a bull that is old enough to compete against a PBR cowboy already, then they don't want to miss our Derby bulls for sale," Baumgartner said. "I also think it's pretty cool you can purchase a bull that used to belong to a celebrity. How many people can say that their bull belonged to Wayne Gretzky, Reggie Jackson or John Elway?"
Part of the Benny Binion's World Famous WNFR Bucking Horse and Bull Sale, Back Seat Buckers will be auctioning off Derby age bulls from their turn-key bull ownership program. Bulls bought can remain in the program or their new owners can elect to take them home and add their genetics to their own herds.
"There are a lot of good ones available and there are bulls in the sale that have already won money and placed in the top five at Futurity events," Baumgartner said.
During the season, 100 BSB bulls competed for $500,000 in prize money.
