BILLINGS, Mont. ― In one of the most hotly-contested races for a world title, it took all of one Built Ford Tough Series event for Shane Proctor to reclaim his lead atop the world standings.

Proctor had actually slipped from second to third in the standings on Saturday, following the 15/15 Bucking Battle. However, a solid Sunday afternoon ― including 88.75 points in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round of the Stanley Make Something Great Invitational gave him all he needed to surpass reigning champion Silvano Alves and Marco Eguchi, who took over the lead two weeks ago in Albuquerque, N.M.

"That's what the PBR is all about - having good races... Everybody is trying their guts out."

Proctor now leads Eguchi by 569.87 points, and Alves by 687.96 points.

J.B. Mauney is 1,109.62 points behind his brother-in-law, while Douglas Duncan is fifth in the world, trailing by 1,370.5 points.

"That's what the PBR is all about - having good races," Proctor said, "and it's no fun if somebody takes over the lead and holds it for very long.

"Everybody is trying their guts out."

Joao Ricardo Vieira won the three-day event with an 89.5-point ride on Yellow Jacket Jr. to claim his second-consecutive BFTS event win.

It's the third straight Top-10 finish for the top-scoring rookie of 2013.

Vieira rode three of four bulls and scored 264.25 points to edge out Proctor, who finished second with 256 points. Vieira's recent surge moves him all the way up to sixth in the world standings ― just 1,488.08 points behind Proctor.

"The real deal is going to be at the end of the year," Proctor said, "when we see who wins it."

Capturing the Pabst Blue Ribbon High-Marked Bull Award of the weekend was Big Tex "ROCKS" with a score of 45.75 points. Shepherd Hills Tested tied Big Tex "ROCKS," with 45.75 points, but the back judge's score of 46 points for BIG TEX "ROCKS" broke the tie.

The Billings event was the 13th event of the BFTS season, which travels to Louisville, Ky., next week on Saturday and Sunday for the Bass Pro Chute Out at the KFC Yum! Center.
