NASHVILLE, Tenn. ― Bull riding fans got what they wanted - a rematch between J.B. Mauney and Bushwacker ― but it was a weekend dominated by former World Champions with four legs and two.

Mauney said the difference between this week and last week, when he rode the 2011 World Champion bull for 95.25 points, was that he wasn't "out over the frontend" far enough, so he was bucked off in 3.81 seconds. Bushwacker was marked 46.5 points and named the Pabst Blue Ribbon high-marked bull of the Jack Daniel's Invitational.

Bushwacker's counterpart, Asteroid, bucked off Joao Ricardo Vieira, who took him with the third pick in the bull draft. Despite the missed opportunity, Vieira still moved into second place in the world standings.

However, it was Guilherme Marchi's turn to stand atop the shark cage in Nashville, Tenn., for the winning interview Sunday inside Bridgestone Arena.

One week after saying they would ride better than they did in Tulsa, Okla., Marchi, who won the world title in 2008, and Silvano Alves were the lone two riders to cover all three bulls.

Kody Lostroh, Nathan Schaper and Renato Nunes rounded out the Top 5 in Nashville, where the crowd saw four former World Champions finish among the Top 5 in the event average. Lostroh won the title in 2009 and Nunes was the World Champion a year later.

Marchi won his second Built Ford Tough Series event of the season and the 19th of his PBR career with an 89.5-point effort on Jack Daniel's After Party, but may have paid a significant price going forward when he was stepped on after dismounting near the front of the bucking chutes with nowhere to escape.

He said his knee was sore and he could feel his left foot swelling.

However, winning makes everything feel better.

"I feel great," he said, before making his way to the sports medicine room to be examined by Dr. Tandy Freeman.

He added, "I (drew) really good bulls this week."

Marchi said while he's felt strong since returning from the three-month long summer break, he's unsure of why he still feels slow. A week earlier, he and Alves, who is the reigning two-time World Champion, said as a group the Brazilians need to readjust to the more athletic bulls in the U.S.

Marchi scored a pair of 86.25-point rides in the two long rounds, with qualified rides on Altercation in the opening round Saturday night, and Big Bopper on Sunday afternoon in Round 2.

He took Jack Daniel's After Party with the second pick in the bull draft, while Alves selected King Lopez with the fourth selection.

Marchi won the event with 260 points on three bulls, but, despite moving up four places in the standings, only closed the gap between himself and Alves from 3,149.43 points to 2,962.68 points.

Alves has now ridden 13 of his last 16 bulls, including four in a row since bucking off his first bull in Tulsa. Both Alves and Marchi missed last week's Built Ford Tough Championship Round.

VIDEO: Weekend in Review

More importantly, Alves pushed his lead to 1,695.27 points over second place Joao Ricardo Vieira, while Marco Eguchi, Cody Nance and Mauney round out the Top 5 in the world standings. Nance, who had a great summer on the Touring Pro Division, is now 0-for-4 since returning to the BFTS.

There are still 13,000 points left to be claimed in the remaining seven BFTS events, two 15/15 Bucking Battles and the World Finals.

Marchi is focused on World Finals, but said it's too early to think about the points.

"I look hard to finish strong to the Finals, and I wish to win the title again," said Marchi. "That's my dream. Riding the bulls, that's my living and I'm here to do my best, like I did this weekend."

Alves agreed, but added, "I just want to keep scoring points."
