SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Closing the weekend with a 92.25-point ride
on Priceless (D&H Cattle Company),
Marco Eguche registered his first career
Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series victory, winning
the Ariat Invitational at Power Balance Pavilion on Sunday.
The 92.25-point ride in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round is
a career high for Eguche, and was also the high-marked ride of the
event. The leader heading into the final round, Eguche selected
Priceless with the first pick in the draft. It is the second
straight week that Eguche has ridden Priceless and posted the
high-marked ride, having scored 90.5 points on Priceless in the
championship round a week ago at Portland, Ore/
The 22-year-old finished with 267 points and earned $38,750 for
the win. He leads the season earnings with $84,409 after four
events, and his win moved him up from seventh to fourth in the
Built Ford Tough Series season standings.
Defending PBR World Champion Silvano Alves
finished second with 259.75 points, and Jory
Markiss was third with 255.5 points. Markiss was the
average leader after riding Blue-Emu After the
Pain (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) for 88.25 points. Alves
then took over first with 89.5 points on How We
Roll (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger Bucking Bulls). Eguche,
Alves, and Markiss were the only riders to go 3-for-3 on the
weekend.
Smackdown (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Struve/Rosen) won the Pabst
Blue Ribbon Bull Award for being the high-marked bull of the event,
earning 47 points after bucking off Ryan Dirteater
in the championship round.
Valdiron de Oliveira continues to lead the BFTS
standings with 1,959.25 points. Oliveira earned 294 points for
winning the first PBR 15/15 Bucking Battle with a career-high and
BFTS season-high 94 points on Buckey (Wentz
Bucking Bulls), and tied for 13th in the average to earn another
152.25 points.
Austin Meier is in second with 1,831.5 points,
followed by Luke Snyder with 1,760 points, Eguche
with 1,512 points, and J.B. Mauney with 1,267.75 points.
CBS Sports Network will have air the action on Monday, Jan. 30, at
9 p.m. ET, and Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 12 a.m. ET.
Sacramento is the fourth stop on the BFTS, which opened the 2012
season on Jan. 6-8 with capacity crowds at Madison Square Garden in
New York. The BFTS will make 28 stops in 23 states before the Built
Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Oct. 24-28, 2012. The World
Finals are where the PBR World Champion will be crowned and awarded
the coveted championship buckle and a $1 million bonus. The richest
bull riding event in the world, the World Finals has a total purse
of more than $2 million.
The BFTS travels to Maryland next weekend for the Baltimore
Invitational presented by Cooper Tires. Bull riding at 1st Mariner
Arena begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, and at 8 p.m. on
Saturday, Feb. 4. Tickets are available at the 1st Mariner Arena
