PBR mourns the loss of Rex Dunn

FORT WORTH, Texas - The PBR extends its condolences to the family and friends of Rex Dunn, who passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Dunn, 56, was selected to work three National Finals Rodeos and two Canadian Finals Rodeos during a 16-year career as a bullfighter. In 1985, during his second trip to the NFR, he was named the PRCA Clown of the Year. In 2010, Dunn was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame.

Dickies DuraBullfighter Frank Newsom credited Dunn as being the mentor most responsible for his career and the success of countless other bullfighters who have come after him.

Newsom calls Dunn, who effortlessly earned the nickname Mr. Smooth, "One of the greatest bullfighters who ever lived."

He later added, "God, I learned so much from him."

Dunn was born Dec. 31, 1955, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
