TOWNSVILLE, Australia - Troy Wilkinson expanded his lead in the race for the Australian title with his first Cup Series win in front of a sold-out crowd at the Troy Dunn Invitational on Saturday night at the Townsville Entertainment & Convention Centre.

Wilkinson took an early lead in the competition with an 87.5-point score in Round 1 on Black Ice, before following it up in Round 2 with 85.5 points aboard Evil Eyes. The scores were enough to position him in first place for the championship-round draft.

Wilkinson and Chris Lowe would be the only two Australians to make the final round, which also included Mexico's Francisco Morales, as well as Jory Markis, Chase Outlaw, Zack Brown, Sean Willingham and Jordan Hupp.

Hupp was the first to post a score in the championship round with 86.5 points aboard Zero Gravity. Markis was the next to make the whistle, but was disqualified for slapping his bull, setting up the final ride of the night, which pitted Wilkinson against Cochice.

Despite having an off night, Cochice put out enough of an effort for Wilkinson to score 82.5 points, giving him a three-bull total of 253.5 points, and a 1.5-point lead over Hupp, a Built Ford Tough Series regular.

Recognised as one of Australia's leading PBR events, which attracts thousands of fans from all over Australia, the Troy Dunn Invitational exceeded expectations, delivering one of the toughest competitions on Australian soil.

The tour now heads south to the country music capital of Australia for the Tamworth Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 24.
