PUEBLO, Colo. - The Professional Bull Riders and Dickies®
announce that Dickies DuraBullfighters Jesse Byrne, Shorty
Gorham, and Frank Newsom will wear
updated bullfighter jerseys for the remainder of the season
beginning with the Dickies Iron Cowboy III, held on Saturday, March
Gorham and Newsom will continue to wear red and brown, respectively. The color of Byrne's jersey will be determined by voting on the Dickies Facebook page. Between March 3-19, fans may choose between purple, forest green and steel gray. Until a new color is selected, Byrne will continue to wear his current blue. After the new color is chosen, the blue jersey will be used by the alternate member of the Dickies® DuraBullFighter team.
"Our fans are so important, and I really like that we're giving them a chance to participate in selecting what color I'll wear," said Byrne. "I'll be keeping track of the voting on Facebook, and if fans want to know what I think, they can reach out to me on Twitter or Facebook. I think all three colors are pretty cool, and I'm very interested to see what color the fans think will look best."
Byrne's new jersey color will be unveiled on March 23 during the Ty Murray Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.
Each week, the bullfighters regularly face rampaging 1,800-pound animals while being responsible for the safety of the world's best bull riders. The Secret Service agents of the PBR place their bodies in front of heads, horns, and hooves to protect the bull riders.
The PBR's Built Ford Tough Series is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network, NBC, NBC Sports Network, and YouTube. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
The BFTS season opened on Jan. 6-8 with capacity crowds at Madison Square Garden in New York. The BFTS will make 28 stops in 23 states before the Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Oct. 24-28. The World Finals are where the PBR World Champion will be crowned and awarded the coveted championship buckle and a $1 million bonus. The richest bull riding event in the world, the World Finals has a total purse of more than $2 million.
