On a night that saw only 18 qualified rides, Ryan Dirteater, the Cherokee Kid, finished the first day of action with the early lead at the DEWALT Guaranteed Tough Invitational. Dirteater won Round 1 with an 86.75-point ride on Frosty (Bailey Rodeo Company), before posting 90.25 points on Jack Daniel's After Party (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo), the top-scored ride of the night.

Missouri native Luke Snyder trails Dirteater in the average by only three points after tying for second in Round 2 with an 88.25-point effort on Billionaire (Bailey Rodeo Company). Snyder, who is having one of the best years of his career, took fifth in Round 1 with an 85.75-point ride on Fully Loaded (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve). Sitting in third after two rounds is Valdiron de Oliveira, who stayed on Bobby McGee (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) for 85.5 points in Round 1, and then proceeded to ride Stanley Fat Max (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) in Round 2 for 86.75 points. 

Fellow Brazilian Fabiano Vieira ended the evening close behind Oliveira, as the last of four riders to cover both bulls on Day 1. Vieira received 85.25 points on Rainbow (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo) in Round 1 and tied with Snyder for second place in Round 2 with an 88.25-point ride on Toy Soldier (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo). Closing out the Top 5 in the average was L.J. Jenkins, who tied Dirteater for first in Round 1 with an 86.75-point ride on Peter Piper (Curtis Mendell). Jenkins did not cover his bull in Round 2. 

The final day of the DEWALT Guaranteed Tough Invitational begins at 7:00 p.m. CT on Saturday. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the INTRUST Bank Arena box office, at www.Selectaseat.com or by calling (316) 755-SEAT (7328). 

Each of the 40 riders will ride in Round 3 on Saturday. Because of this week's CBS broadcast, the riders with the 12 highest cumulative scores will advance to the Built Ford Tough Championship Round, where they will compete with one more bull. The overall event winner will be the rider with the highest combined score from all four rounds. 

Fans can catch all of the action from Wichita on VERSUS starting at 12:00 a.m. ET on Sunday, and again at 3:00 p.m. ET or 5:00 p.m. ET on CBS (immediately before or after the regularly-scheduled NFL game). Check local listings for details. The one-hour CBS broadcast will include a special 12-rider Built Ford Tough Championship Round, as well as features and other highlights.

Wichita is the 26th stop on the nationally-televised BFTS, which makes 29 stops in 23 states. The season began at world-famous Madison Square Garden in New York, and culminates Oct. 26-30 in Las Vegas at the richest bull riding event in the world, the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals. The Finals is where the 2011 PBR World Champion will be crowned and awarded the $1 million Built Ford Tough bonus.
