WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.  ― Riding RFD-HD (Teague Bucking Bulls, LLC) for 89 points, Nathan Schaper won the first PBR 15/15 Bucking Battle of the 2013 season on Friday at the LJVM Coliseum.

CBS will broadcast the PBR 15/15 Bucking Battle in its entirety at 2 p.m. on Sunday (please check your local listings).

Jordan Hupp was the only other rider to cover his bull in the bucking battle, riding Stanley FatMax (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) for 87.25 points.

The first five riders in the Winston-Salem 15/15 Bucking Battle were the Top-5 finishers from 2012, while the remaining 10 were the 10 highest-ranked riders currently competing on the BFTS, not including the top five finishers from 2012. L.J. Jenkins and Valdiron de Oliveira, who finished third and fourth, respectively, in 2012, and Fabiano Vieira, who is currently ranked 11th were injured and unable to compete.

The final matchup featured 2008 World Champion Guilherme Marchi and 2012 World Champion Bull Asteroid (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo). Asteroid was the Winston-Salem Invitational Monster Energy Money Bull, and got the best of Marchi, who would have earned a $21,000 bonus with a successful ride.

Built Ford Tough Series points are doubled in the PBR 15/15, with the winner receiving 200 points and second place receiving 180 points, continuing on a graduated scale to 20 points for 10th place. The rider also receives his ride score (1-100 points), which means that 300 points are possible for the winner. Points earned in the PBR 15/15 will count toward the season standings and qualification for the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals. If a rider fails to make a qualified ride, he does not receive any points or money. Points earned in the special round do not count toward the results of the BFTS event.

The BFTS is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network, and YouTube. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
