KANSAS CITY, Mo. ― Canadian phenom Ty Pozzobon moved into the No. 3 spot in the world standings with an opening-round win at the Built Ford Tough Invitational presented by F-150 with Ecoboost Saturday night. The 21-year-old covered Prince Albert (Dakota Rodeo/Berger/Struve)  for 87.75 points at the Sprint Center for the victory, putting him behind world leader Shane Proctor and world No. 2 Silvano Alves.

"I'm feeling good," said Pozzobon when asked about his recent success. "Last year, I really just focused on making the World Finals, but this year I'm focused on riding well and winning events."

Neither Proctor nor Alves covered their bulls in Round 1, thus, they remain just 53 points apart in the Built Ford Tough Series standings.

 

Out of the 12 qualified rides in Round 1, six were made by Brazilians ― Eduardo Aparecido, Emilio Resende, Valdiron de Oliveira, Agnaldo Cardozo, Marco Eguchi, and Joao Ricardo Vieira. Aparecido, who covered Honey Hush (Flying S/Swinging C/Pasillas) for 87.25 points, is currently tied for second in the event with Mike Lee.

Lee opened the night on Breakdown (Wolf Creek Cattle & Rodeo Co/Vermejo River Ranch).

The Built Ford Tough Invitational continues Sunday when each of the Top 35 riders ride again during Round 2, beginning at 2 p.m. Round 2 and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round will air on CBS Sports Network tomorrow night at 8 p.m. ET.
