SACRAMENTO, Calif. ― 2008 PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi (Leme, Brazil) went 3-for-3 this weekend to capture his first win of the season in front Saturday night's sold-out crowd of 13,000 at Sleep Train Arena for the Built Ford Tough Series Sacramento Invitational.

Marchi led the event going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and with a score of 88.75 points, he prevailed against Showboat (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo) for the event win. The win takes the Brazilian from the brink of being cut two weeks ago to ninth in the world standings.

"I feel like a cowboy again," Marchi exclaimed. "You know, this event win came at a great time for me. I'm starting to believe in myself again. I'm riding better. I'm getting older and getting slow, but this week I came back strong and I was able to cover all my bulls. I'm so happy to have been able to win this event."

As the race for the PBR World Championship continues, Silvano Alves (Pilar do Sul, Brazil) extended his world lead Saturday as one of four riders to cover three bulls in as many attempts. Aaron Roy (Asquith, Canada) took second at the event with a total score of 252.5 points, while Alves placed third with 248.75 points. Northern California resident Brendon Clark finished fourth with 246 points. The top-three ranked riders in the world: Alves, Shane Proctor (Mooresville, N.C.) and J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.) all advanced to the championship round, but Alves was the only one to outlast the 8-second clock. Their respective world rankings remain the same.

"This event win came at a great time for me. I'm starting to believe in myself again."

Mickey Mouse (Marlene Henry) and Great White (K&K Cattle Company) earned the Pabst Blue Ribbon Bull Award for being the high-marked bulls of the event. Both earned a score of 45.5 out of a possible 50 points in the championship round.

Fans will have the opportunity to watch the PBR 15/15 Bucking Battle, which took place Friday night in Sacramento, during its rebroadcast on CBS Sports Network Monday at 5 p.m. ET. This special format competition pits the Top 15 Built Ford Tough Series bull riders against the 15 rankest PBR bulls.  Asteroid, the reigning PBR World Champion Bull, was amongst the bovine athletes in this battle.

The BFTS will travel to Southern California next weekend for the LiftMaster Invitational at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Feb. 8-10.  Bull riding begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, 6:50 p.m. on Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
