Marcilio wins Velocity Tour event in Portland

PORTLAND, Maine – Alex Marcilio (Macaubal, Brazil) was victorious at the (Professional Bull Riders) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) Portland Chute Out Saturday night at Cross Insurance Arena.

Marcilio covered Lab Rat (Cornwell Bucking Bulls/Circle G/Coleman) in Round 1 for 88 points on Friday night, then rode Peep Show (Triple R Bull Co.) for 85.5 points in Round 2. Marcilio then went on to be the only rider to turn in a qualified ride in the championship round by covering Richard (Torres Brothers) for 88 points. The 29-year-old earned 80 world points, breaking him into the Top 35 in the world standings and pushing him to the top position in the Velocity Tour standings. He will also be taking home a check for $7,600.

Winners of each RVT event in 2017 will be guaranteed at least one opportunity to compete at a PBR Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) regular-season event. Thanks to his victory in Portland, Marcilio earned an invitation to the Rumble In The Rockies in Colorado Springs, Colorado, September 30-October 1.

Skeeter Kingsolver (McLouth, Kansas) earned second after a 2-for-3 performance. The 28-year-old earned 81.5 points on Moleskin (J Bar W Ranch) in Round 1, followed by an 87-point ride on Despicable Me (Triple R Bull Co.) in Round 2. He went on to be bucked off in the championship round. Kingsolver earned 50 points towards the world standings along with $4,100.

Jesse Tillman (Pikeville, North Carolina) finished in third place after covering Holy Mackerel (J Bar W Ranch) for 84.5 points in Round 1 before earning 83.5 points aboard Deep Water (Bar W Ranch) in the Round 2, he was bucked off in the championship round. Tillman will walk away from the weekend with $2,100 and 30 points towards the world standings.

Alex Cardozo (Indaiatuba, Brazil) solidified the fourth-place slot. Cardozo earned 80 points in Round 1 after riding Dollar Dreamer (Torres Brothers) in Round 1 before earning 82.50 points in Round 2 on  Get Blitzed (Cornwell Bucking Bulls) and bucking off in the championship round. Cardozo earned 20 points towards the world standings and $1,400.

Keyshawn Whitehorse (The Woodlands, Texas) rounded the Top 5. The 20-year-old earned 88 points after riding Air Bender (Rockin S Ranch/Cornwell Bucking Bulls) in Round 1 before bucking off in the following two rounds. Whitehorse earned 15 points in the world standings and $1,540.

The next stop on the Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour will be in Hartford, Connecticut, for the Frontier Communications Battle on September 30 at the XL Center.

The 2017 Velocity Tour will culminate with the Velocity Tour Finals at South Point Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 28-30, leading into the PBR’s Built Ford Tough World Finals, Nov. 1-5 at T-Mobile Arena.
