LAS VEGAS, Nev. (October 31, 2009) - The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) took over Las Vegas’ Thomas & Mack Center for the second round of the 2009 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals.  PBR is looking to crown its 16th World Champion who will take home a $1 million bonus and the coveted gold belt buckle.  At the end of Saturday’s performance, 2008 PBR Australia National Champion Pete Farley (Kempsey, AUS) took the round two victory after riding the 2008 PBR World Champion Bull, Bones, owned by Teague Bucking Bulls, LLC, for a whopping 93.25 points.  This was the first time that the top bull was ridden in actual competition.  The young Australian added a check for $25,000 to his bank account and the first World Finals round victory in his career.

“He’s (Bones) a bull where you know you have no room for error at all.  He’s hard to ride and that’s why no one wanted to pick him,” Farley stated.  “It didn’t make me want to prove anything except to myself that I could ride the best bull in the world.  It gives me a lot of confidence especially with the draft because I can pick what I want to pick for tomorrow.”

Splitting second and third place was North Carolina superstar J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.) and Ryan McConnel (Colgate, Okla.) who both scored 91.25 points.  Mauney rode 2009 World Champion Bull contender, Troubadour of Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls, while McConnel took on the bull, Unabomber (Eno/Kubinchak Bucking Bulls).  Fourth place went to top Brazilian rider Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, GO, Brazil) who scored 90.5 points on Boyd/Floyd Bull Company’s bull, Spitfire.  Rounding out fifth place was Shane Proctor (Mooresville, N.C.) who rode the bull, King of Hearts, owned by Corey & Horst Rodeo Co. Inc.

The PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals rounds out the first weekend of competition on Sunday, November 1 at the Thomas & Mack Center for round three of the world-class event.  The top 40 bull riders along with four international bull riders are taking on the world’s best bulls as they compete for the ultimate title in the sport of bull riding—the 2009 World Championship!

The PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals airs LIVE on VERSUS on Oct. 30-Nov. 1 and Nov. 5-7 and LIVE on NBC on Nov. 8.  Additionally, CBS will broadcast the last 15 rides of round three on Sunday, Nov. 1 (check local listings for all times).  Visit www.pbrnow.com to view the current broadcast schedule and consult local listings to verify all show times.
