LAS VEGAS, Nev. (November 6, 2009) - The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) kicked off the 2nd weekend of competition at the 2009 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in front of a packed Thursday night crowd.  In the end, the no. 1 bull rider in the world Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) lit the Thomas & Mack Center crowd on fire after scoring 90.25 points on the bull, Mission Accomplished, owned by 4L & Diamond S Rodeo Company.  Not only did he take the $25,000 check for winning the round, but he also moved to slitting second and third in the overall event average with a total of 353.5 points.

“Dustin (Elliott) rode that bull last weekend and we joked that we should just switch bulls for a round this weekend.  I got lucky and drew him,” Lostroh stated at the post-event press conference.  He added, “It feels great to be in my position because I’ve been at the bottom before and now I’m at the top.  Doing what I’m doing right now is what I was made for.”

North Carolina superstar and the no. 2 bull rider in the world J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.) finished second in round four after riding the bull, Fire Plug of K & K Cattle Company for 89 points.  Third place went to Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, GO, Brazil) who rode Lightning C Cattle Company’s bull, Copp Hou, for 88.25 points.  2008 PBR Canada National Champion Aaron Roy (Asquith, SK, Canada) took on the bull, Migraine of Silverado Rodeo Company, for 87.5 points and a fourth place finish.  Rounding out fifth place was Florida PBR rookie Caleb Sanderson (Kissimmee, Fla.) who conquered Neon Ghost, owned by Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls/Bryan Smith/Bar None, and scored 87 points.

The PBR is getting ready to crown a new world champion at the 2009 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals.  With four performances down, three remain along with the final Built Ford Tough Championship Round of the 2009 BFTS season.  Three riders are now four for four and a battle that will go down in PBR history will be played out among the top bull riders in the world as they all compete for the coveted gold belt buckle and the $1 million bonus courtesy of Ford.

The PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals airs LIVE on VERSUS on Oct. 30-Nov. 1 and Nov. 5-7 and LIVE on NBC on Nov. 8.  Visit www.pbrnow.com to view the current broadcast schedule and consult local listings to verify all show times.

INJURY REPORT:
Brian Herman
(Victoria, Texas) has a possible broken right hand (riding hand).  X-rays are pending.  He is probable for tomorrow’s round.

Zack Brown (Santa Fe, Texas) is questionable for tomorrow due to a left groin injury.

Cody Ford (Stanfield, Ore.) bruised his left calf after his bull stepped on him.  He is competing.

BEHIND THE CHUTES
Enterprise Rent-A-Car Ride with the Best Bonus

As the winner of round three at the 2009 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas, Nev., Robson Palermo (Rio Branco, Acre, Brazil) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round four.  Although Palermo made the eight second whistle on the bull, Keepsake, he was disqualified due to slapping the bull; therefore, the stock contractor, Circle T Ranch & Rodeo, took the $5,000 bonus.  As the round four winner, Team Enterprise rider Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) will compete for the bonus in round five.

Lets not fight about Kody and JB it will work out. They both deserve to win. They go out each week and put their life on the line to ride an 1800 pound bull, we sit on our bums and watch. Love them both, the guys on the media train are just trying to keep it like a boxing match that is what they are paid for, which I hate. I wish them both the very best, keep safe and ride like you have been. It doesn't matter to me, it has been a privilege to be able to watch all the bull riders ride this year. Thank you all, Awesome finals. I love Kody and JB. I just hope it is both of you at the end. :)

Oh, forgot and they can ride a bull in any direction, up, down, right or left or what ever. That is bull riding. Love you guys keep it up, Kody, JB, Bryan, you are what makes the PBR worth watching, float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. LOL

The Brazilian riders ride with strength instead of moving and correcting with the bull, like Kody, JB, Justin, Bryan and most of the best riders from the US, Canada they ride the bull move for move, the Brazilians just muscle for 8 seconds. I would much rather watch Kody float on the back of the bull. I think the US, Canadian, Australian riders look so much better riding. They ride the bull jump for jump.

I am so disappointed that Marchi seems to have fallen under pressure. So now I am hoping that Kody pulls it off and wins. Also I am sick of all the hype over JB.

The bulls Marchi rode spinned away from his hand, and if they were spinning into his riding hand, garanteed he would have rode them,..and until Marchi can do the riding when the bull spin away from his riding arm,.. he can outride anyone,

I totally agree that the judge's are going to hand
the tile to JB. Even the announcers realized that
his 1st & 4th round scores were to high and that
he should not have got a reride on his bull that
stumbled. I also wondered why they interviewed
him instead of Lostroh. They think they have to
talk to JB every time he farts. They did the same thing with McBride two years ago.

Something is definitely bothering Marchi, but I don't have any idea what it is. I'm just hoping it gets "rectified" before next year. A mental block can be as devastating to a bullrider as a physical problem. I'm sorry Zack is out of the finals because he had a great year, and I thought he might win the finals. At this point, I'm hoping Robson, Kody, or Valdiron wins.

Mabey Marchi is having problems because he is wearing his black hat instead of his tan hat. Any thoughts on this?

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person who sees what is happening with JB and the judges. KRC responded to me last night on another feature almost immediately after I posted. This is what I said that made him feel he had to defend his boy, JB. So, interviewing JB, when Kody won the round is like interviewing the Phillies because the Yankees won the World Series. Didn't take Keith long to defend. I personally wanted Marchi to win, but, seems like he probably won't, so I'm rooting for Kody. I'v e been called all sorts of names because I don't root for JB to win. I respect him because it does take guts to get on the back of a bucking bull. But, he is always scored higher than he actually deserves. I think there is always one judge, watch the scoring, who holds back to se how much JB needs to win. Sometimes, though, they know to give him too high a score would "stick out like a sore thumb". Example, Robson's ride on Black Pearl. Kody should have gotten a higher score, if JB's ride was really worth 89. The PBR and the judges are taking all the fun and excitement out of this sport. I think JW is the only one with the guts to call things like they should be. I know, I know. I'll be called all sorts of names, but, it seems, that is what the JB fans do best, if you don't agree with their point of view and opinion . This includes KRC!!!!

BullRidingisArt - What do you mean by you people? (that is a joke). You say you don't want people to put down JB, fair enough. However, you take the words of a few fans and in general, criticize all Kody fans. Is that being fair?

I can't believe that KRC had to get on here and explain why Leah was interviewing JB!!! You could see in the background that Kody was being interviewed on a big screen! Maybe some of you should open your eyes before your mouth/fingers typing.

Second, what are you talking about about all the Kody fans being so rude. I don't think there are rude comments on here, just people's opinions. No one lashed out at JB, they were just stating their thoughts. If you think they are rude than I suggest you don't read the comment section.

Kody's fans describe him as a kind gentleman with a deep religious background.
But his fan following seems like they are straight from H_ _ _. They bash JB on a daily basis with some of the ugliest vile words/comments possible. Not exactly the kind, gentle, religious followers that Kody deserves. It's ok to cheer on Kody but why the tearing down of another. You people are turning others against Kody. At this point I can hardly stand Kody because of his fans.
Really JB is just doing what every rider should do and he does it with greatness. The judges are not favoring him and your jealously is so foolish and unsportsmanlike

"Lostroh was standing in the winner's circle,..guess where Leah was at?,.she was interviewing Judges Boy(JB) as some one put it,.."

It's LIVE TV and they had no choice. Kody won the round and so his immediate responsibility is to do an in-arena interview for those in attendance. He then has to pose for photos with the presenting sponsors after being given his buckle and check for winning the round. Versus conducted the J.B. interview while this was going on and then followed with Kody as soon as he was done.

Someone please tell me why Kody's fans are so rude? It is almost as if you are jealous of JB's natural ability to be a world Champion.

Natural ability?,.ha! judges have the ability to give scores, that must be it,Jealous? nope,..just returning a favor of what JB's fans putout.

Rude?- no, it a natural thing for fans of all sorts of sports, take a look in basketball, it will be heated up, football it will have some big time vie's, they're everywhere,..it our NATURAL ABILITY to be RUDE, and JEALOUS we are humans. what about you??,..

PLEASE take a look at what the judges did for JB last night, JB was given 89 points to where JDub says,"I disagree with the score that JB got, because the bull was weak, and it should rightfully be 87", now on the other hand, Lostroh rode for 90.25,.. and if the judges were scoring that as if they were viewing as a JB ride, Lostroh would get 94.50 points, but only gave 90.25,and from looking at both rides by JB & Lostroh, Kody's bull spin and bucked faster,..get the point??,.

Hey! judges are at it again,.. last night they gave Mauney 89 points,..to which Jdub say,"I disagree with score JB got, the bull bucked weak, and it should be 87",..Now looking at the DVR and sure I think Lostroh should have gotten 94.0 instead of 90.25, or more if the judges were looking at Lostroh's as they were at JB's,...

Okay I know it's not J.B.'s fault, but J.B. stands for "Judges' Boy". Give me a break. Who in the world could not have figured out that his score was going to be - conveniently again - a half point above the leader. And I think it was either G-man or J.W. who said "that was as close to a day off as he's ever going to get" when speaking of J.B.'s ride. It was a good ride but no way challenging enough for an almost 90 point score. My guy Guilherme doesn't look like he's going to do it so GO KODY!!!! He has been nearly flawless all year when J.B. stumbled a little bit towards the beginning of the year. Now my guy is stumbling when he hardly ever does but when it's crunch time. Yikes.....

way to go Kody JB Dustin and Val nice riding but tell me Kody won the round and JB gets treated like he did and his score was a little much for that bull and no it is not JBs fault more power to him this is about the PBR why is JB the superstar and not Kody something to think about

Agree with CD. JB did exactly what you're supposed to do on a little sweetheart like that so you can't fault him, but 89 seems a little rich. On the other hand, that bull was small but he was crankin'. The same trip for a 1800-2000 lb bull woulda looked a lot different.
  • chadro
    November 6, 2009
Maybe, part of the reason JB's bull didn't look as good to me as Kody's was because that sucker was tiny. Kody's was a big rodeo lookin sucker. If Robson P. wouldn't of slapped his bull, I think he'd have won it. I hadn't been able to watch anyone in a LONG time, but that Robson is a stout, bull ridin, s.o.b!!

There were a few really impressive rides in the fourth round; I thought both Kody and J.B. had great bulls that were made to look easier because of how well the cowboys rode them. To be honest, it doesn't matter to me whether J.B. or Kody wins the title, and I call it like I see it - J.B.s bull was getting into the air while he was cranking it back hard - not a walk in the park.
Have to say I'm confused about why only ten or eleven riders covered their bulls, though. Hopefully they'll do better tonight.

CD, you said it!! Took the words right out of my mouth. JB's bull looked like a high school kids, practice bull. Little hopper and right into his hand. Shoulda got a reride even!! ha ha! Kody is fixin to win this deal and he will have earned every single stinkin point! He's the champ, i predict and hope.

If JB was 89 points on that bull, Kody should have been 95 points. It was beyond obvious that JB got loaded. He made a flawless ride on a 20.5 bull. 86 points would have been plenty. It's not JB's fault, but that was a joke.
