Lostroh and Troubadour team up for winning ride – again

LAS VEGAS (November 6, 2009) - He might have to get permission from his wife, but Kody Lostroh is mulling bringing a new family member home from the Professional Bull Riders World Finals.

This one just happens to weigh 1,500 pounds, and goes by the name of Troubadour.

For the third time this season and fourth time overall, Lostroh and Troubadour of Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls have teamed up for a ride in the 90s – the latest one a 91.25-point ride that gave him the Round 5 victory on Friday night.

Just this year, the dance team of Lostroh and Troubadour have won the cowboy more than $127,000.

“Maybe after the Finals, I’ll just see if he can come live with me for a little while,” said Lostroh, who has led the PBR world standings virtually all season.

It was the second consecutive round win for Lostroh, of Longmont, Colo., and allowed him to stretch his lead over second-place J.B. Mauney to 732.50 points in the race for the PBR World Championship.

He said this trip on Troubadour was different than any of the previous trips and he came much closer to bucking off than the earlier rides.

“The previous three times, he’d spun to the right,” Lostroh said. “So tonight when he spun left, he still bucked just as hard but it was just a little different feel. That bull kind of backs up when he’s spinning, backs up under himself and wants to pull you over his head.

“He got me in a little more trouble today. I about fell off of him, but he was still fun to ride.”

Mauney also posted a successful ride on Friday, conquering Ricky Bobby for 89.25 points to maintain his lead in the average for the World Finals event title. Only Mauney, Lostroh and Brazilian Valdiron de Oliviera have ridden all five of their bulls thus far.

Mauney leads the event standings with 447.25 points, with Lostroh second at 444.75 and de Oliviera third with 442.0 points.

Like Lostroh and Troubadour, Mauney and Ricky Bobby, owned by H.D. page and Bill and Betty Morrison, have a successful history as well. Mauney has ridden Ricky Bobby successfully three times with all three rides in the 90s.

Friday’s score was an 89, and Mauney said he was glad to get by the bull, which was trying to jerk him down to the inside of the spin.

“I beat him around (the corner) a hair too much from where I would have really liked to have been, and he was pulling me off in there,” Mauney said. “I was looking at the tip of his right horn the whole time. It worked out.”

De Oliveira kept his hopes for the event title alive with an 88.5-point ride on Pearl Snap of Boyd/Floyd Bull Company.

Caleb Sanderson of Kissimmee, Fla., finished second in Round 5, just behind Lostroh after riding the notorious bull Chicken on a Chain of Jeff Robinson/Mike Tedesco/Larry the Cable Guy for 90.75 points. The ride earned Sanderson $18,000.

Austin Meier of Kinta, Okla., finished third in the found, riding Far West of Martinez Bucking Bulls for 90 points to finish third and win $12,000.

McKennon Wimberly of Cool, Texas was fourth with an 89.75-point ride on Yellow Jacket Jr., good for $10,000 and Renato Nunes of Buritama, Brazil was fifth with an 89.5-point ride on Tahonta’s Shadow, good for $5,000.

Tonight’s Round 6 gets under way at 6 p.m. ET.

hojokate...you're flat wrong about Kody only being able to ride one bull. He has ridden darn near every bull he's been on this season and that's why he's in the lead. He rides flawlessly and is a perfect amb!@#ador for the sport by the way he conducts himself. A great rider and a great sport. GO KODY!!!!!

Well my first Finals has been an awesome experience so far!! And Kody winning both rounds at the first two nights I was at was just iciing on the cake!!!! Sure hoping he can get another round win tonight!

Really dissapointed for Ryan M., Cody Ford and Zack Brown that they had to opt out due to injuries. However, it was really nice to see Billy and Reese get a chance and what an awesome ride Reese had last night!!

All of them were at the meet & greet today. Poor Ryan was not in good shape. He was such a trooper to be out there siging today!

Can't wait for tonight to start!

GO KODY!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP RUNNING THE RACE!!

Dawncrandall~ draft is where the winner of the night before gets first pick, and so on down to the one that fell off the fastest will have the last draw, and if the winner wins again,..he can't have the bull he just rode again, (rule) but he can pick another ranked bull, but can't have the same bull twice in a row,or in a week, so everyone have an equal chance of winning a go round.

"phil 4:13-I can do all things through Christ, Who strengthens me", my favorite verse of the Bible. He does indeed provide for those that trust in Him.

we will be heading to PBRO church before heading to the 7th go Round & Championship round.

dawncrandall- The draft helps any rider that has ridden their draw bull, not just the top riders. The fact is the top riders ride the draw bulls and get good rider scores, because they are better riders, and yes, this then gives them an advantage in the draft.

    last night was fun watching.
I would like to see a split screen of Kody & JB on Troubadour. I admire them both. The draft does seem to really help the top riders. I'm not sure it is fair to the others.

Congratulations to Kody on another excellent ride and round win! Boy, was it exciting last night!! And how good were those bulls!! Code Blue, Big Tex and Voodoo Child are making excitement all their own aside from the cowboys. What magnificent animals they are! WOW!

My thanks to lostroh-fan-86 and CD for setting hojokate straight. I almost choked when I read that comment that Kody can onlyonly ride one bull He's been in the lead for 20+ events - I think he can ride whatever he wants!

Great round to both Kody and JB. Everyone is getting all worked up over this. Remember for Sunday there is no Draft. The bull is selected for the rider in a draw. With 3 rounds to go, there are a lot of possibilities that could happen. So do not count your World Champions till Sunday. By the way watch out for Valderon, he is right there with these boys too.

hojokate:Your little theory that Kody can ride only one bull is a crock of SH%&! If Kody can only ride Troubadour, then he'd be 1-5 instead of 5-5. JB Mauney even said if he could get on Troubadour again, he would! CD is right, it would be foolish for any rider to p!@# that bull up, almost as foolish as your comment! Why would you p!@# up a bull that has made you over $127,000 in 1 year??? Some people need to really start thinking about what they are sayin on here, before they say it! You must be a JB Mauney fan!!!

Im so glad Kody got Troubie rode and won the round. He's doin exactly what he needs to do! I cant wait to see how it all plays out! Hope Kody can keep up the awsome ridin and prove to everyone why he's been #1 for 24 of the 31 events. You dont get there by riding ONE BULL! Congrats Kody! And GOOD LUCK THE REST OF THE FINALS!

    hojokate:

If you haven't noticed all year long, Troubadour was the first bull picked in every draft he was in except for one. JB has picked him every time he's had the chance to as well along with Kody. It would be foolish for any rider to p!@# him up and give someone else the chance to beat him on the bull since they usually win the round on him.

It is sad that Kody seems to be able to only ride one bull....Trubadour.

Kody will probably be the world champ, but of what? One Bull? Wish he would pick another bull.

Yes, congrats, Kody. Still pulling for my fav, JB, but I do enjoy watching you ride. I still say that Troubadour is the bull of the year. He's the bull that keeps on giving by making champions. Bones is a specimen, though. He not only bucks like a champion, he's such a handsome bull--beautifully marked, etc. I admire Code Blue and Big Tex as athletes, but they have nothing on Bones or Voodoo Child in the looks dept. What a compact power pack that Voodoo Child is--love, love, love him. Oh heck, I do so love them all!

Man! Kody is looking strong! I was one of the doubters going in to the finals, thought his nagging elbow and shoulder would keed him from riding to the best of his abilities. Wow i was wrong. Great job, he is putting Phil. 4:13 out there for all to see. Good luck to all!!

2tscowgirl: Yeah, it's awful seeing Guilherme unable, for the moment, to get it together. Nobody could have imagined he'd go 0-for-5. I'm sure rooting for him to ride in Rounds 6 and 7!

Go, Kody!! I'm truly a Marchi fan, but, if he doesn't win, and I guess he won't, then I hope you do. I'm so sorry Ryan Mc won't get to compete tomorrow.

Oh, and I'm so grateful to read on the TeamPBR Twitter feed that Mike Lee is fine. It's scary how often he gets knocked out, but I hope he's back and stronger than ever tomorrow!

Another great round to watch tonight! Loved watching Kody win the round on Troubadour -- I love seeing any ride on that bull, but he and Kody together are something special! I only wish Troubadour could get back his form from earlier this year, when his scores were a point or so higher on average. It was great watching Wiley and Renato finally get scores, and though I hate to have guys withdraw with injuries, it sure was fun seeing a smile on Reese's face after his ride.

Hate to see Ryan McConnel go out with what looked like a painful injury. I sure hope he's able to get his chest healed up quickly!

What's up with Craig Hummer pronouncing Husker's Terror "Hoosker's Terror?" This Nebraska native is not impressed!
