PUEBLO, Colo. – The Built Ford Tough Series break is normally a time for Flint Rasmussen to take a step back and recharge from entertaining thousands of people on a weekly basis.
However, Rasmussen has continued to find a way to stay involved in the sports’ scene even with the BFTS on summer break and his entertaining schedule lightening up.
Rasmussen has parked his face paint on the bench and can now be found in Choteau, Montana, spotting a ball cap during track practice at Choteau High School.
“I excelled at track in Choteau,” Rasmussen told MTN Sports’ Brenna Greene this week. “I still have the school record in the long jump. My claim to fame!”
Rasmussen decided to join Choteau head track and field coach Callee Peebles’ staff after his daughter, Paige, began competing for the Bulldogs.
The 48-year-old has been the PBR’s exclusive entertainer since 2006, and he brings his well-documented, high-level energy to practice every day.
"He jokes around with them but he motivates in a good way," Peebles told Greene. "Makes them work hard. I think high school students can relate to that goofiness he provides."
At one point in practice, Flint jokes with a group of boys, ‘Have fun fellas and remember, don’t fall down.”
Flint has ran in the past two Rider Relief PBR 5Ks.
“I have this little competitive edge in me,” Rasmussen said last year in Colorado Springs, Colorado. “If there is a foot race of any sort, my nature as a kid is to get in it. Plus, it is a good cause. If Chad Berger is in this, there is no way I am sitting.”
There is no word yet if Rasmussen has any plans on challenging the Dickies Bullfighters, defending World Champion J.B. Mauney or in-arena announcers Matt West and Clint Adkins to a track and field competition during the second-half of the 2016 BFTS.
In all seriousness though, Peebles said the Bulldogs are “very grateful” for Rasmussen helping at practice.
"Him volunteering his time just says a lot about his heart and his passion for the sport," Peeble said.
