PUEBLO, Colo. ― Brant Atwood (Pampa, Texas) returns to the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series tour once again this year after winning the Poplar Bluff, Mo., Touring Pro Division event this past weekend.

Atwood tied for fifth in the long round with an 86-point effort, but it was his first-place finish in the short go at 88.5 points that carried him to victory. The Texas native collected 174.5 points overall to walk away with $4,453.15 in earnings.

Brazilian up-and-comer Kaique Pacheco de Oliveira (Itatiba, Sao Paulo) placed second with 172 points for $3,016.65, while Ryan Miller (Waterloo, Ind.) landed third place with 169.5 points for a $2,226.58 payout. Atwood, Pacheco de Oliveira and Miller were the only three riders to cover both of their bulls in Missouri.

Justin Robards’s (Bulahdelah, Australia) 82.5 points in the long go had him sitting in 10th place at the Blood Bought “Bullriding Bull” Jam 2014 in Dothan, Ala, but he was the lone rider to go 2-for-2 on the weekend and picked up 85.50 points in the short go to win the event and $5,607.03.

Rowdy Rice (Easly, S.C.), Brenton Chaffin (Riner, Va.) and Tyler Harr all split third place by each recording 85-point rides, with Rice receiving the score during both of his entries. Based on TPD rules, a bull rider may enter a TPD event as many times as they choose; some riders have been known to enter two, or even three times. Chaffin and Harr earned $1,188.83 each, while Rice earned $2,377.66.

On Saturday, fans at the Hampton Coliseum watched as Josh Birks (Coonamble, Australia) picked up the BlueDef Velocity Tour event win in Hampton, Va., after being the only rider to cover both of his bulls and registering the highest marked ride of the event with 89 points.
