Express PBR Classic concludes from Salt Lake City!

Can McBride become the first bull rider to win $2,000,000 in one season?

By PBR

What’s next for PBR bull rider Justin McBride?

He’s the 2005 PBR World Champion;

He set the record this year for the most event wins in one season with 8 titles;

He broke the record for the number of career event wins with 30;

He broke and is setting a new record for the most money won during a regular season with more than $467,000; and

He is the PBR’s all-time career money winner. What could he possibly need to accomplish now?

How about owning the richest ride in PBR history?

As the PBR rider in the #1 position at the end of the 2007 Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler (BFTS) regular season, next weekend Justin McBride will officially be named the first AlphaTrade National Champion and receive a bonus of $50,000. As the National Champion McBride will be eligible to ride Frontier, Teague and comedian Ron White’s bull Scene of the Crash, the AlphaTrade Bounty Bull selected by PBR fans, for an additional $150,000. Just by attempting to ride Scene of the Crash McBride will receive $25,000, and when he covers his opponent for the required 8 seconds, he’ll add another $125,000 to his 2007 winnings, making it the richest ride in PBR history. $200,000 awaits McBride for the entire AlphaTrade National Champion Award Program.

Can he do it? McBride’s willing to try. Last night at the PBR’s Express PBR Classic in Salt Lake City McBride received word that he had officially been named the AlphaTrade National Champion and that Scene of the Crash is waiting for him in the bonus round.

“Scene of the Crash is a great bull, and that’s what the PBR is all about – riding the best bulls in the business. Hey, I’d pay $25,000 to ride this bull.” said McBride.

McBride has never faced the 1650 pound athlete so it’s anyone’s guess as to how he will fare. In 2006 and 2007 regular season competition Scene of the Crash has a 100% buck-off percentage in 27 attempts. He’s only been ridden twice in his career in 51 regular season outs, the last time by Sean Willingham (Summerville, Georgia) in 2005. Brazilian Guilherme Marchi (Sao Paulo, Brazil) did however ride Scene of the Crash in Greensboro in 2006 during the Shoot Out Bonus Round, winning $90,000. If this is any indication, McBride should be pleased. Scene of the Crash has already helped one cowboy to thousands of dollars and McBride could be next.

With $467,000 earned in regular season competition; $200,000 in the AlphaTrade National Champion Award Program; and the money available at the PBR World Finals - $20,000 for each round, $225,000 for the PBR World Finals event title, and the $1,000,000 PBR World Champion bonus, McBride could conceivably win $2,000,000 in 2007. Just 5 seasons ago $1,000,000 a year was dream, today it is the foundation of the PBR World Champion’s reality.

“It’s been a phenomenal season for me, despite some injuries [dislocated shoulder suffered at the Chihuahua Challenge in August and pinched neck nerve suffered at the U.S. Army Invitational in September],” said McBride, reflecting on his 2007 performance. “I can’t let the possibility of getting hurt keep me from accomplishing all that I can. I will ride Scene of the Crash next weekend in the AlphaTrade National Championship Award Program bonus round and I will go for it. I’m ready.”

McBride’s ride can be seen next Sunday, October 14th when FOX airs the last regular season event for 2007, the Rocky Boots Invitational from Columbus, Ohio’s Nationwide Arena. Fans should check their local listings for air times in their area.

Tickets to the Rocky Boots Invitational are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, via www.Ticketmaster.com or call 614 431 3600 to charge tickets by phone.
