PUEBLO, Colo. - The Professional Bull Riders announced that the following riders have been promoted to the nationally-televised PBR Built Ford Tough Series: Chad Besplug, Aaron Roy, Agnaldo Cardozo, Lachlan Richardson, and Billy Robinson. The five were promoted because of their ranking on the PBR Touring Pro Division, based on money earned.
Cardozo will be returning to the BFTS for the first time since 2008. In his first BFTS event at Grand Rapids, Mich., in 2007, he rode all three bulls and won the event. He competed in two more regular season events in 2007, and also participated in the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals. He competed in five BFTS events in 2008, and finished eighth at the Ty Murray Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.
Besplug leads the PBR Rookie of the Year standings with $154,118.83, including $100,000 for winning the Calgary Stampede. Richardson is fourth in the Rookie of the Year race with $74,400, including $38,900 for winning the Mohegan Sun Invitational presented by Cooper Tires at Uncasville, Conn., which was his first BFTS event in April.
Riders with injury exemptions are Pete Farley (5), David Kennedy (2), Markus Mariluch (2), Chance Roberts (3), Pistol Robinson (4), Nathan Schaper (3), Tyler Thomson (5), and McKennon Wimberly (5).
The BFTS will be back in action on Aug. 31-Sept. 1 in Thackerville, Okla., for the WinStar World Casino Invitational. It will be the second year in a row that the BFTS will compete under the stars in a custom-built arena adjacent to the WinStar World Casino. In 2011, Thackerville became the first outdoor BFTS event since 2005 in Laughlin, Nevada. Tickets are available at www.WinStarWorldCasino.com, and by telephone at (800) 745-3000.
