HUNTINGTON, W.V. – As the 2019 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) season inches ever closer to the World Finals, one rider, Ramon de Lima (Rio Branco, Brazil), significantly helped his cause to compete at the most prestigious event in bull riding Friday evening inside Huntington, West Virginia’s Big Sandy Superstore Arena. Recording the night’s top marks, Lima won Round 1 of the PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour’s Huntington Invitational.

Recording his sixth consecutive qualified ride, Lima rode How Bout It (UTC/Sellers Bucking Bulls) for 88 points.

Courtesy of the round win, Lima earned $800 and 50 world points, rising from No. 64 to No. 57 in the PBR world standings.

Lima, who is looking to qualify for his third consecutive PBR World Finals, is now a mere 369.16 points outside of the Top 35.

Cody Rodeo Tyler (Guthrie, Oklahoma) was second, collecting a check for $600 and 25 world points. The Oklahoman covered Cow Dog (Rockin R Bucking Bulls/Jerry Rush) for 86 points.

Reaching the 8-second whistle aboard Wound Up (Melton Bull Co.) for 85.5 points, Alex Marcilio (Macaubal, Brazil) was third. He earned $400 and 10 world points.

Fourth was Alex Cardozo (Indaiatuba, Brazil). His 85-point ride aboard Top Line (Bob & Judy Whisnant/B-J) earned him a $200 payday.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Kyle Jones (Troy, Missouri) courtesy of his 84.5-point trip aboard Runnin Through The Jungle (Rafter B Bucking Bulls).

Collectively, eight riders recorded qualified rides on the first night of competition.

Completing the leaderboard was Skeeter Kingsolver (Mclotuh, Kansas) in sixth for his 83-point ride on Big Timber (Sustaire/Barrett Willis Bucking Stock LLC), Paulo Ferreira Lima (Bezerros, Brazil) in seventh via his 82.5-point ride on Legacy (Bob & Judy Whisnant/B-J), and Lindomar Lino (Anapolis, Brazil) in eighth compliments of his 70-point ride on Bring The Bling (GEM Bucking Bulls).

Paralleling the fierce battle to be crowned the 2019 Huntington Invitational Champion was the opening night of competition for the 2019 Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge World Finals.

Earning a combined score of 269.5 points courtesy of the trips recorded by Red Sails In The Sunset (Harrison/Swearingen/Berger), Redneck (Harrison/Swearingen/Berger) and Blue Stone (Harrison/Swearingen/Berger), Harrison/Swearingen/Berger won the opening night, collecting a paycheck for $100,000.

UTC/Sellers Bucking Bulls finished second to earn $50,000, while Melton Bull Co. was third earning $20,000.

Also earning a check on the opening night was fourth-place Bob & Julie Whisnant/B-J, earning $15,000, fifth-place Rafter B Bucking Bulls, netting $10,000, and sixth-place Nothin’ But Try Ranch/Diggers Bucking Bulls, collecting $5,000.
