FORT WORTH, Texas – American Bucking Bull Inc (ABBI), in conjunction with the inaugural PBR (Professional Bull Riders) World Finals in Fort Worth, Texas, held two season-defining events the past two weekends with the American Heritage Futurity and a $50,000-added Futurity that took place outside Will Rogers Coliseum.
ABBI has awarded $2 million in earnings to the next generation of bucking bulls between November 2021 and May 2022. This means that the highest-earning ABBI bucking bull in franchise history is currently out of the 2020 calf crop.
“To be able to say we have awarded $2 million to the Futurity class alone in the past seven months is phenomenal,” ABBI President Jay Daugherty said. “Usually, this is a payout we only see at the ABBI World Finals spread across every class of bucking bull competition. As an industry, we are constantly looking for new ways to support, expand and improve, and this is just one of the many steps we are taking in the right direction.”
During the first weekend of competition, D&H Cattle Company claimed its seventh American Heritage Champion title with 5H Cold Rolled (Moore/Hunter/D&H Cattle) to earn more than $72,000. The four-legged athlete notched a 94.08-point score to capture his first-place finish.
This event is the largest bucking bull futurity in the country, with the greatest regular-season payouts of $420,000 over the two days of competition.
In the $50,000-added Futurity on Saturday morning, 12H Orbit (Cowtown Rodeo/Lone Star/Futrell/D&H Cattle Co.) collected more than $28,000 with a winning performance of 93.6 points. More than $137,000 was paid out to the open futurity class, while the total limited purse offered roughly $35,000.
0712 Send It (Davis Rodeo Ranch/Adult Decision Bucking Bulls) and CMc006 Epic (Cord McCoy/Bruce Wold) split the Limited Futurity win with 89.6 points each for just under $7,000 apiece.
“With another successful two weeks of ABBI competition in the books, the first half of our season has produced some of the winningest 2-year-old bovines in the history of our sport,” said Daugherty. “Large purses and paying out as many places as possible have been a main focus of ours, and it’s turning out to benefit a lot of our stock contractors, breeders, owners and partners. With the way things are going, we certainly have a lot to look forward to in the second half of our season and at the ABBI World Finals in Las Vegas.”
