In front of a sold-out WesBanco Arena, Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole, Texas) surged up the leaderboard to win the event, finishing 2-for-3.
After bucking off Bullet (Just For Kicks/J-M/DD) in 3.21 seconds on Friday, Alvidrez roared out of the gates on Time For Religion (Dana White/DD Bucking Bulls) for 82 points to begin his perfect Saturday.
Now in top form, the captain of the Missouri Thunder in the separate PBR Camping World Team Series thundered out of the chutes on Kephart’s Lego Armor (G&H Cattle) for a round-winning and event-high tying 86.5 points to catapult to the top of the leaderboard.
Other past PBR Wheeling Invitational event winners include Alex Marcilio (2023 – Macaubal, Brazil), Paulo Ferreira Lima (2022 – Bezerros, Brazil), Austin Beaty (2021 – Bedford, Virginia), Derek Kolbaba (2019 – Walla Walla, Washington), Eli Miller (2018 – Statesville, North Carolina), Carlos Garcia (2017 – Abingdon, Virginia), two-time PBR World Champion Jess Lockwood (2016 – Volborg, Montana), three-time PBR World Finals event winner Robson Palermo (2015 – Rio Branco, Brazil) and Brenton Chaffin (2014 – Riner, Virginia).
The Wheeling tour stop is currently slated as the 23rd Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour event of the year. In 2024, the Velocity Tour hosted more than 356,000 fans, setting 16 event attendance records, while selling out 20 event days, including both days in Wheeling last year.
The bull riding action for the PBR Wheeling, presented by Oglebay Resort, begins at 8 p.m. EST on Friday, March 21, and at 7:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, March 22 at WesBanco Arena.
Forty (40) bull riders will get on one bull in Round 1. Round 2 on Saturday evening will feature the Top 36 riders from Round 1; the riders’ individual two-round scores will then be totaled, with the Top 10 advancing to the championship round for one more out and a chance at the event title.
