BANGOR, Maine – After the opening round of Kubota PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Bangor, Dawson Gleaves (Amarillo, Texas) and Pokey Houghton (St. George, Utah) sit tied atop the leaderboard.

Gleaves topped Game Day (C-B Bucking Bulls) for 85.5 points while Houghton matched him with an 85.5-point ride atop Big Mouth (C-B Bucking Bulls).

Both riders netted 23 Velocity Global points for their efforts Friday night.

Courtesy of a double-entry, Gleaves also finished third in Round 1.

Paired with Bojangles Chicken Leg (J Bar W), Gleaves roared out of the chutes for 81 points.

The Texan garnered an additional 17 Velocity Global points for his second entry.

In fourth place was Andy Bohl (St. Cloud, Florida).

The Sunshine State cowboy covered Redneck Rumble (Dave Martin/Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 80.5 points in Round 1.

Bohl left Cross Insurance Arena with 16 Velocity Global points.

The final ride of the evening belonged to Jeferson Silva (Pontese Lacerda, Brazil).

Silva hung on to Colo (Painted Pony Championship Rodeo) for 71.5 points.

The Brazilian netted 7 Velocity Global points for his opening-round ride.

Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.

Kubota PBR Bangor continues with Round 2 tomorrow, Saturday, March 8, at 7 p.m. ET, and Sunday, March 9, with Round 3 and the championship round beginning at 2 p.m. ET.

While the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour bucks in Bangor and Lexington, Kentucky, the elite Unleash The Beast competes in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
