Bull rider qualifiers announced for 2025 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast, set to settle feverish 2025 World Championship race

By Kacie Albert

FORT WORTH, Texas – Ahead of the 2025 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) World Finals: Unleash The Beast in Texas, the organization today announced 40 of the 45 riders who will compete at the initial stage of bull riding’s most prestigious event, as the intense battle to be crowned the 2025 PBR World Champion approaches a climactic end when one rider will earn the coveted gold buckle and $1 million bonus.

The 2025 PBR World Finals will again feature a three-stage, tournament style format, awarding a historic $3.26 million. Bull riding’s crown jewel will begin with Eliminations (May 8-11) followed by Ride For Redemption (May 14-15) in Fort Worth at Cowtown Coliseum, setting the stage for the Championship (May 17-18) in Arlington at AT&T Stadium when the 2025 World Champion will be crowned.

At the 2025 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast, one rider, not including ride score points, has the chance to earn a maximum 1,240 Unleash The Beast points across both Eliminations and Championship. Each round winner will earn 80 points, with the event winner of Eliminations collecting 200 points and the winner of the Championship earning 400 points. Riders will also earn points for their ride scores: from 70-79.75 points/7 points, 80-89.75/8 points and rides 90-99.75/9 bonus points. A rider registering all 90-point rides at both Eliminations and the Championship, would earn an additional 72 world points.

The 2025 PBR World Championship battle has been one of the fiercest in the organization’s history.

Looking down the standings, the world’s Top 10 are separated by 661 points.

During the 23-week regular season, no rider led the world title battle by more than 188 points, and with 1,240 points available from May 8-18 in North Texas, all 40 qualifiers have a mathematical pathway to the World Championship, including No. 40 Ethan Winckler who trails top-ranked Kasel by 1,122.5 points.

The final five riders will punch their tickets to the 2025 PBR World Finals via the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Finals May 2-3 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

After coming up just short of the World Championship the past three seasons, Kasel, fresh off winning the 2024 PBR Teams Championship with the Austin Gamblers, began the 2025 individual campaign with a newfound determination.

The charismatic Texan has ridden in seemingly unstoppable form throughout 2025, winning a PBR-best five Unleash The Beast events and an unrivaled 14 rounds, while recording five 90-point rides and leading the PBR in money won with $353,078. He has gone 33-for-60, covering 55% of his animal athlete opponents.

Kasel delivered the second-best score of the season when he teamed with reigning World Champion Bull and current No. 1 bovine Man Hater for an unrivaled 93.5-point score.

Kasel led the World Championship race for the final five weeks of the regular season, holding the largest lead of any rider throughout the campaign when he began the regular season Unleash The Beast finale in Tacoma, Washington, this past weekend with a 187-point lead over No. 2 Fielder.

During his career-best regular season push, Kasel made history when he won three consecutive Unleash The Beast events in March. He is now just the fourth rider ever to achieve the feat, joining two-time World Champions Chris Shivers, J.B. Mauney and Jose Vitor Leme.

Kasel, however, always remained within the sights of Australian sensation Fielder, who is attempting to become just the second rider from Down Under to win the PBR World Championship, joining Troy Dunn who achieved the feat in 1998.

Fielder led the World Championship race for eight weeks prior to being surpassed by Kasel in late March following his win in Palm Springs, California.

During the 2025 campaign Fielder led the PBR in outs, 61, qualified rides, 40, and riding percentage, 65.57%. He was one of five riders to win multiple Unleash The Beast events – in Chicago and Pittsburgh in January.

Fielder also registered four 90-point rides and seven round wins, the second most of any rider.

Teenage phenom John Crimber will begin the 2025 PBR World Finals No. 3 in the world, 483 points behind No. 1 Kasel, as he attempts to become the youngest PBR World Champion in history.

After being narrowly denied the World Championship in 2024, finishing runner-up by 238.5 points, Crimber began 2025 with a bang, winning the season-launch tour stop in Tucson, Arizona, to vault to the world No. 1 rank.

Adding an additional win two weeks later in St. Louis, Missouri, Crimber was the world No. 1 ranked bull rider for the first nine weeks of the season. Despite sustaining a back injury in late January in Houston, Texas, which sidelined Crimber for several weeks and led him to being surpassed in the standings, Crimber has battled throughout the remaining weeks, registering an additional four Top 10 finishes to remain a gold buckle contender.

In addition to his two event wins, Crimber also recorded five 90-point rides and six round wins in going 29-for-54 (53.7%).

Sage Steele Kimzey will look to build on his World Finals event win from 2024 by winning his first PBR World Championship come May 18. Currently No. 4 in the world, seven-time PRCA Champion Kimzey is within 489.75 points of No. 1 Kasel.

The remainder of the Top 10 who will compete at the 2025 PBR World Finals includes: No. 5 Luciano De Castro (-566.17 points); No. 6 Paulo Eduardo Rossetto (-567.75 points); No. 7 Cort McFadden (-579.92 points); No. 8 Keyshawn Whitehorse (-626 points); No. 9 Andrew Alvidrez (-657.25 points) and No. 10 Kaique Pacheco (-661 points).

The Top 10 features a strong Texas presence with four riders ranked inside the threshold hailing from the Lone Star State: Kasel (Muleshoe), Crimber (Decatur), McFadden (Novice) and Alvidrez (Seminole). Should any of these contenders be crowned the 2025 PBR World Champion they would become the first Texan since Cooper Davis in 2016 to earn the coveted gold buckle.

Within the 40-rider field, Eduardo Aparecido will be making his fourteenth consecutive appearance at the PBR World Finals. He will be joined by veterans Joao Ricardo Vieira (13th), Pacheco (10th) and Derek Kolbaba (10th) who have all now qualified to compete at bull riding’s crown jewel 10 times or more.

Pacheco is also one of three World Champions competing at the 2025 PBR World Finals. He is accompanied by current No. 18 and two-time PBR World Champion Leme and No. 28 and 2022 PBR World Champion Daylon Swearingen

Five members of Fort Worth’s own Texas Rattlers have also qualified to compete. Those riders are: No. 2 Fielder, No. 17 Claudio Montanha Jr., No. 31 Vieira, No. 32 Daniel Keeping and No. 38 Dawson Branton

PBR also revealed the World Finals bullfighters who will take to the dirt to protect the best bull riders in the world: Cody Webster, Lucas Teodoro, Nathan Harp and Austin Ashley. While Harp was voted to work the PBR World Finals, he will be unable to fill the role due to an injury sustained earlier this season at the Unleash The Beast event in North Little Rock, Arkansas. His position will be filled by Knox Dunn.

The 2025 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast will begin with Eliminations at Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth from May 8-11. The competition will begin at 7:45 p.m. CT on May 8-10, and 1:45 p.m. CT on May 11.

During Eliminations, each of the 45 competing riders will get on one bull daily. When the dust settles, the Top 15 in the Unleash The Beast standings, and Top 5 in the event not already advancing, will earn a direct berth to the Championship in Arlington the following weekend.

Competition continues with Ride For Redemption on May 14-15 at Cowtown Coliseum. Following the two rounds of action on May 15, the Top 5 in the aggregate will earn the final berths to the Championship. Action for Ride For Redemption begins nightly at 7:45 p.m. CT.
