FORT WORTH, Texas – After sweeping their rival Kansas City Outlaws 3-0 during this year’s inaugural Monster Energy Team Challenge, presented by Camping World, en route to capturing the Show Me State Showdown hardware and associated bragging rights, it’ll be hard for Head Coach Ross Coleman and his Missouri Thunder not to feel like top dawgs Thursday night.

Sure, Kansas City is technically the “home” team overall, with each of the league’s 10 PBR Camping World Team Series squads set to invade T-Mobile Center April 24, which traditionally serves as stomping grounds for the Outlaws.
But given the event’s description suggests it’s “Missouri vs. The World” this time around, the noted rivals will be forced to join forces as they look to put on a show for their home state fans.
All while welcoming back 2024 PBR World Champion Cassio Dias back to the dirt for the first time since mid-November.
“He’s very excited to come back,” Outlaws Assistant Coach Guilherme Marchi said on PBR Now last week.
“He tried to push himself kind of two weeks, three weeks ago. ‘I want to get on some bulls. I want to get on some bulls.’ And me and (Head Coach) J.W. (Hart) say, ‘It’s not time yet, Cassio.’
These past two weeks, he’s been getting on bulls and he’s so excited. It’s step by step, and he’s going to go next (this) week, and let’s see what Cassio’s feeling, because it’s 100% on him, on his body, and also if he handles the pain, if he’s good to ride bulls. He says he is, but I don’t know. Let’s see.”

Adding some dramatic fuel to the equation, the World Champion in Marchi suggested his rider’s status has been and continues to be up in the air for the one-of-a-kind showcase.
But we can confirm he’ll be in the lineup, mixed into a team with three of his fellow Outlaws and four Missouri Thunder riders:
Team Missouri Riders (as of 4/23 – Listed alphabetically):
Boudreaux Campbell (Missouri Thunder)
Cassio Dias (Kansas City Outlaws)
Dawson Gleaves (Missouri Thunder)
Felipe Furlan (Missouri Thunder)
Julio Cesar Marques (Kansas City Outlaws)
Koltin Hevalow (Kansas City Outlaws)
Maikon Calixton Rocha (Kansas City Outlaws)
Trace Redd (Missouri Thunder)
Of course, the league’s other eight contingents will need to duke it out in head-to-head fashion first in order for Dias and company to understand who they’re competing against.
With four separate team vs. team battles primed to set the tone in 3 vs. 3 fashion, the following games will take place to set the stage for the evening’s main event, with two riders from each of the four winning teams being selected to comprise “The World” entity.
And wouldn’t you know it, another opportunity for each of the teams to establish some bragging rights against their rivals ahead of this summer’s fourth season of 5-on-5 action:
Texas Rattlers vs. Austin Gamblers
Arizona Ridge Riders vs. Oklahoma Wildcatters
Nashville Stampede vs. Carolina Cowboys
New York Mavericks vs. Florida Freedom
Once the eight riders from the opening round have been selected, they’ll then prepare to duke it out with “Team Missouri” during an 8 vs. 8 Championship Game for all the marbles!
With due respect to the 2025 PBR World Championship race, riders ranked within Unleash The Beast’s Top 20 are prohibited from competing in Thursday’s contest.
That doesn’t necessarily mean guys who are ranked No. 21-45 and happened to be inked to one of the teams are REQUIRED to show up, however. Given Thursday’s showcase is considered an exhibition event in the record books, certain coaches and front office executives may be using the opportunity to get some of their recently signed or generally prospective talents in the fold.
Playing both some offense by seeing what some of these riders have to offer while playing some defense in allowing their regulars to collect some additional rest, either ahead of Saturday’s PBR Tacoma or within their respective Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour-driven efforts, teams will feature a mix of established veterans alongside up-and-coming prospects.
Fans with questions about Thursday’s format or folks who simply want to learn more about the showcase can check out the PBR Knockout 101 article below!
