CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – As the 2025 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Finals, presented by Coastal Bend Chevy Dealers, got underway Friday night in Corpus Christi, Texas, Jeferson Silva (Pontese Lacerda, Brazil) rode supreme, winning Round 1 of the season-ending event inside American Bank Center Arena.

Silva was one of 17 riders to convert in the opening round. He led the field when he went the distance on Red Wing (3B Cattle Co.) for 88 points to earn 48 Velocity Global points.

The reserved Brazilian rose from No. 52 to No. 34 in the standings.

Atop the battle for the 2025 PBR Velocity Tour Championship, No. 3 Marcus Mast (Middlebury, Indiana) finished fourth to lessen No. 1 Afonso Quintino’s (Sao Luis dos Montes Beios, Brazil) lead to 101.5 points.

Mast topped Vigilante (Halpain Bucking Bulls) for 86.25 points to collect 24 Velocity Global points, while Quintino was deemed to have slapped High Road (Cannon Cattle Co.) at the 1.21-second mark.

No. 2 Bob Mitchell (Steelville, Missouri) also registered a score Friday night. He rode Frank the Tank (LH Cattle Co./2T Cattle Co./Broke Spur Ranch) for 82.5 points, tied for the fourteenth-best score of the round, to net 8 Velocity Global points. He trails No. 1 Quintino by 73.17 points ahead of the final day of the Velocity Tour season.

Returning to the top of the event leaderboard, 2024 PBR World Champion Cassio Dias (São F. de Sales, Brazil) was second, earning 28 Velocity Global points.

Dias’s trip in Round 1 marked just his second PBR out since breaking his femur at the season-launch Unleash The Beast event in Tucson, Arizona, in November.

The stoic South American outlasted Red Bull (Harley Joe Cattle Co.) for 87.75 points.

Eric Novoa (Vacaville, California) is third following Round 1. He made the requisite 8 on Bad Bob (Silent 7/Hilton Bull Co.) for 86.5 points, earning 26 Velocity Global points.

Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Guthrie Long (Pecos, Texas).

Long collected 22 Velocity Global points after making the whistle atop F-Bomb (Chicken Hill Bucking Bulls) for 85.5 points.

The 2025 PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Finals from Corpus Christi, Texas, and American Bank Center Arena concludes on Saturday, May 3, with Round 2 and the championship round. Action gets underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.

Saturday’s event will include the crowning of the 2025 PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Champion, who will earn a $50,000 bonus.

Additionally, via the PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Finals, five riders will earn a berth to the PBR World Finals, which will get underway on May 8 at Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas.
