FORT WORTH, Texas – By the time next month’s Colorado State University Last Cowboy Standing event kicks off in Fort Collins, Colorado, the fourth season of PBR Camping World Team Series will have begun.
Which means coaches are likely sending several of their guys to the rare Monday/Tuesday showcase set to take over the Rams’ campus.
Not just depth guys either.
These “ride or go home” events have been known to welcome several of the sport’s top talents over the years.
Plus, squads will technically be enduring a bit of an early-season bye week from PBR Teams competition, as teams won’t compete until the tour invades Duluth, Georgia, July 26-27 two weeks after seeing the Oklahoma Wildcatters host the 2025-opener during Wildcatter Days in Oklahoma City July 11-13.
At the same time, similar to PBR Teams in general, the Last Cowboy Standing format has become a platform for up and comers to forge standout performances – so you never know what kind of stars could be born, if not flames reignited, come July 21-22.
Leandro Zampollo of the New York Mavericks won the most recent iteration of the high stakes showdown, which he ended up parlaying into a career-best No. 33 rank last month at the 2025 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast.
“I feel blessed and I prayed a lot. I thought I couldn’t do it but God has blessed me and I’m the Last Cowboy Standing,” the Brazilian offered on the dirt back in January thanks to some translation help from bullfighter Lucas Teodoro.
“It means a lot to me heading to Pittsburgh in a good place. I want to do my best and keep riding my bulls.”
Ezekiel Mitchell of the Texas Rattlers exited last summer’s iteration of ride-to-advance theatrics during a show at Cheyenne Frontier Days – Though he had to go through 2024 PBR World Champion Cassio Dias and friends to get the job done!
“It’s all God – My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It was all him. I couldn’t do it without him. This is amazing,” an emotional Mitchell shared with the crowd during a post-event interview.
“The last few years of my career hasn’t been what I’ve wanted them to be, so now to get the ball on the right track again, I’m just thankful for all of the fans that stayed behind me both nights and my beautiful fiancé, she’s up there, I love all of y’all.”
This isn’t just another opportunity to earn some cash or merely a tune-up for another weekend of PBR Teams competition.
This event represents part of PBR’s history in allowing any one man to ride his heart out with the goal of being proclaimed the best of the best.
And that’s exactly what we’ve gotten out of these event-winning performances: the best of the best!
With the two-night, ride-to-advance showcase set to invade Canvas Stadium, we can’t just storm into a poppin’ college town with an old fashioned bull riding, right?
Enter the star-studded talents of Tim McGraw (Monday, July 21) and Jon Pardi (Tuesday, July 22), who are set to perform Monday and Tuesday night, respectively, following the man vs. beast showdowns!
Which means the brews will be rolling and the tunes will be rocking!
And for fans who haven’t visited Fort Collins before, trust us when we say there’s plenty of good beer, tasty food and plenty of fun to be had! From hikes and golf to walking trails endless brewery and distillery options, we promise – a good time will be had!
So, be sure to grab your tickets, dust off your finest flannel and cowboy boots and GET READY for two nights of adrenaline-fueled action and unforgettable music in the Centennial State!
