By PBR

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Three-time PBR World Champion Jose Vitor Leme (Ribas do Rio Pardo, Brazil) was victorious on Friday night inside Golden 1 Center, winning Round 1 of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Unleash The Beast (UTB) event.

Crashing to the dirt in back-flipping fashion after surviving the requisite 8 aboard Dirty Honey for 89.2 points, the 29-year-old successfully logged his first round win of the season and 92nd of his standout career.

“That was not the perfect get-off, I can say that, but thank God I got a qualified ride and one more good score for my career,” said Leme on the Paramount+ telecast.

“I’m getting there. Confidence is something that you have to continue riding bulls (to earn). That’s what I’m trying and today I did my job. I hope I can do it tomorrow again.”

Earning 28 UTB points, Leme improved to the No. 30 rank ahead of Saturday’s second round.

Keyshawn Whitehorse (McCracken Spring, Utah) went the distance aboard Kung Fu Panda for 87.65 points early in the night. In control the whole way, Whitehorse sat atop the leaderboard for a majority of the night before seeing Leme sweep in for the win. Securing a fourth-place finish in the round, he’s now 7-for-10 across the tour’s last four events.

Shortly after Whitehorse converted, John Crimber (Decatur, Texas) nearly met the mark, turning in a quality 87.5-point score dancing with Creedmore Precision to round out the Top 5.

Friday night’s opening round featured the fourth installment of the Monster Energy Team Challenge, an extension of the PBR Teams league that brings head-to-head, team vs. team bull riding games to the sport’s elite individual tour.

On a night where three of the summer series’ first four champions were in action, the New York Mavericks battled the (2022) Nashville Stampede before seeing the (2025) Carolina Cowboys duke it out with the (2024) Austin Gamblers.

No. 1 Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) completed a walk-off win for the Austin Gamblers during the second Monster Energy Team Challenge game of the night via an 84.55-point strike against Wild Mustard.

Helping Kasel overpower the defending 2025 PBR Teams Champion Cowboys were No. 2 Sage Steele Kimzey (Strong City, Oklahoma) (86.80) and No. 13 Callum Miller (Warwick, Australia) (85.55) as Austin captured the 258.90-173.90 victory.

No. 4 Clay Guiton (Cherryville, North Carolina) recorded 87.30 points, good for sixth place, while Manoelito de SouzaJunior (Itamira, Brazil) was scored 86.60 points for his eight-second adventure as the Cowboys came up one ride score short to conclude Friday’s session.

Kaiden Loud (Kaufman Texas) ended the night in second place courtesy of an 89.10-pointer dancing with Hot Sauce as he guided his Nashville Stampede to a 155.45-88 victory over the New York Mavericks during the opening game.

Loud teamed up with Alan de Souza, who declined a re-ride and kept his 66.35 points earned from an 8-second effort paired against Pay Dirt as the Stampede outpaced the Mavericks two ride scores to one.

New York’s Marco Rizzo provided the Mavericks’ lone conversion of the night, scored 88 points following a successful re-ride aboard Magic Hunter, which earned him 17 UTB points for a third-place finish.

Action for the Ariat PBR Sacramento presented by Cooper Tires will continue with Round 2 on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 7:45 p.m. PT and conclude with Round 3, immediately followed by the championship round on Sunday, Feb. 1, at 1:45 p.m. PT.

Both days of competition in Sacramento are available on Paramount+. This weekend’s Monster Energy Team Challenge games will air Sunday, Feb. 1 at Noon ET on CBS Television Network.
