GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following the fourth PBR Teams season, Jerome Davis of the Carolina Cowboys has been named the league’s Head Coach of the Year.

One year removed from being a bridesmaid in the Championship race, the Cowboys came back from being the fifth-seeded team in the 2025 playoffs bracket to running the table in Las Vegas, coming out on top as the league’s fourth champion team in four seasons. This came under the tutelage of Davis, a PBR co-founder and 1995 PRCA World Champion, who has led the team since the league’s inception in 2022.

The Cowboys finished with a team record for wins, going 19-16 in the 2025 season. This came one year after a strong 18-9-1 performance in 2024, finishing a half-game behind tying for the Regular Season Championship title.

"I feel truly blessed to receive this award,” said Davis. “What makes it even more special is knowing it was voted on by guys in this sport that I look up to and respect. That means a lot to me. But at the end of the day, this wasn’t about one person. It was about the team — the guys who nodded their head and gave everything they had every single time that gate opened. It was about the ownership and the entire organization I’m proud to be a part of. Without them, none of this would have happened.”

“As a former World Champion himself, Jerome knows what it takes to win and he’s instilled that mindset in our locker room,” said Jon Shumate. “He understands the sport at the highest level because he’s lived it, and our riders trust him completely. His leadership was a huge reason we competed at such a high level this season. We’re proud to have him leading the Carolina Cowboys.”

“Congratulations to Jerome on being named Coach of the Year,” said Assistant General Manager Cooper Davis. “His impact goes far beyond the arena. He’s not only a great coach, but a true leader who sets the example for the kind of men we all strive to be.”

The Championship marked not only the first for the Cowboys in team history, but the fourth unique Teams Champion in as many years. PBR Teams welcomed 272,315 fans to events in the 2025 season, a record. Broadcasts on CBS and the CW reached more than 28 million fans over the season.

Davis mentored and coached Clay Guiton, a 20-year-old rising cowboy in his first year with the team, to a Teams Championship MVP Buckle. Guiton was in just his second Teams season after coming to Carolina from the Oklahoma Wildcatters.

Davis is a legend in the world of bull riding, helping to co-found the PBR in 1992 and continuing to give back to the sport since. He earned the title of 1995 PRCA World Champion bull rider and was inducted into the PBR Hall of Fame in 1998. Jerome and his wife Tiffany, the team’s Director of Team Relations, currently reside on the Davis Rodeo Ranch, where they raise bulls competing in PBR, the world’s leading bull riding organization.

Davis and the Carolina Cowboys will return home to Greensboro, North Carolina, and First Horizon Coliseum for their fifth annual homestand event on Sept. 18-20, 2026.

The competition begins at 7:45 p.m. ET on Friday, September 18, 6:45 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 19, and 1:45 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 20. Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be purchased online at TicketMaster.com and PBR.com, at the First Horizon Coliseum Box Office, or by calling PBR customer service at (800) 732-1727.
