Key Storylines
Veteran firepower returns to Steel City as Sage Steele Kimzey and Dalton Kasel are both back in Pittsburgh, adding even more intensity to an already crowded World Championship race. While Kasel was sidelined in Salt Lake City, he watched fellow Monster Energy rider John Crimber capitalize and climb the standings, knocking Kasel from the top spot. Now back in action, Kasel looks to battle his way to reclaim World No. 1.
Round 1 is stacked with headline bovine talent, including Sober Child, Top Dollar, Lights Out, Fire Zone and Eyes On Me — a lineup that guarantees no easy outs and immediate separation for riders who can capitalize early.
There’s also a determined return to watch as Austin Richardson steps back into competition. Richardson tore his right PCL in the practice pen in early November 2025 and initially believed it had healed after sitting out December events. But he re-aggravated the injury on his first ride — a qualified ride — in Boston, and was advised by Dr. Tandy Freeman that he needed to rest it. Now cleared and back on the dirt, Richardson returns hungry to regain momentum.
Leandro Zampollo also makes his return after sitting out Salt Lake City due to injury. The Brazilian rider will be tested immediately Friday night when he faces Rockville, setting up one of the more intriguing matchups of the opening round.
And when Saturday night’s Championship Round rolls around, all eyes will be on Man Hater, who is slated to buck in the short round, setting up what could be a season defining moment in Pittsburgh.
