Stop No. 13: PBR Unleash The Beast heads to Florida for the biggest regular-season event of 2026

Season's lone Major could dramatically reshape the World Championship race as world's best attempt to close the gap with No. 1 Sage Kimzey.

The Florida State event is the most important regular-season event of the year as the only PBR Major on the 2026 Unleash The Beast schedule. With increased points available, the event will carry significant weight in the world title race with only a handful of regular-season events remaining afterward.

Sage Steele Kimzey’s win in Little Rock helped him build the largest lead of the season over No. 2 John Crimber, but this Major presents a big opportunity for Kimzey to extend that separation or the field to close the gap.

Riders like suddenly ice-cold Dalton Kasel, who has fallen roughly 200 points back, could use this event to jump back into the championship conversation. Meanwhile Brady Fielder, more than 300 points behind, can’t afford to fall much further back with roughly one-third of the season remaining.

The winner of the event is guaranteed to take home a minimum of $75,000. But at this stage of the season, the most important factor isn’t the money — it’s the points determining who climbs the world standings and will ultimately be crowned PBR World Champion.

While the PBR World Finals still account for roughly 25% of the season’s total points, performing well at this Major is critical for riders trying to position themselves for a title run.

What Fans Can Expect

One thing making the Tallahassee stop unique is the setting itself. With the event taking place at Florida State University, the riders will be competing on a football field — something that rarely happens during the regular season. The PBR World Finals have traditionally taken place on the turf at AT&T Stadium, and events like The American and RodeoHouston have also used football or stadium fields in the past, but it’s still a rare sight on tour.

Another throwback element fans will experience in Tallahassee is the return of major concerts following the competition. With Jon Pardi and Miranda Lambert closing out the show each night, the event brings back the kind of atmosphere that helped shape the sport in its earlier days — when fans, riders, and the music all came together to create a full night of entertainment.

Combine that atmosphere with the increased points and the higher stakes of the tour’s only Major, and the intensity inside the arena will reflect it. Riders know what’s on the line in Tallahassee, and the opportunity to earn more points toward the world standings means the competition will be just as electric as the entertainment surrounding it.
