The 2026 Unleash The Beast season rides into Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the Ty Murray Invitational — one of the most pivotal stops of the season. Key Storylines
Injuries continue to shake up the field at a critical point in the season. Daylon Swearingen was recently sidelined after taking a few bumps to the head, while fellow Carolina Cowboy Jess Lockwood is still working his way back from a concussion. Ezekiel Mitchell, who was recently traded to the New York Mavericks, is also out after undergoing collarbone surgery this week — opening the door for others to capitalize on a pivotal three-day event.
There’s also a notable personal milestone off the dirt, as Kaique Pacheco and his family prepare to welcome a new addition, adding another layer to an already emotional stretch of the season.
The Monster Energy Team Challenge will feature an added international presence this weekend, with several Brazil Combine standouts expected to appear in team lineups — offering fans a glimpse at the sport’s next wave of global talent.
At the top of the standings, John Crimber faces a stiff test in Round 1 against Buck Nasty, one of the rankest bulls in the sport, in what could be an early tone-setter for the weekend.
Meanwhile, Hudson Bolton showed a glimmer of a comeback after returning from a rib injury, riding with confidence and momentum before being doctored out of competition again this weekend.
With this being a three-day event, fans can expect a loaded draw from the start. The opening round will feature some of the top bulls in the sport — and with many of them set to return for Championship Sunday, managing both matchups and momentum will be key.
Also keep an eye on Cole Brewer, who earned his way into the field after a standout performance at the Indian National Finals Rodeo (INFR) last October in Las Vegas. The Eagle Butte, South Dakota, cowboy covered three of four draws to win the average and claim the 2025 INFR bull riding championship, securing his invite to Albuquerque. Brewer will be featured in the opening section, set to help kick off the weekend in New Mexico.
Don’t miss a moment as the margin for error gets even smaller — catch all the Unleash The Beast action live on Paramount+, with the Monster Energy Team Challenge airing Sunday at noon ET on CBS.
