KANSAS CITY, Mo. (April 13, 2026) – After earning a spot as one of four teams in the Professional Bull Riders’ (PBR) Monster Energy Team Challenge playoffs, the Kansas City Outlaws will compete in the Semifinals in Billings, Mont., Friday, April 17, taking on the second-seeded Austin Gamblers for a chance to play for the Championship title in Tacoma, Wash. a week later.
Both games will feature a special 7-on-7 format, unique in PBR Teams competition for the METC playoffs. The Outlaws went 3-1 in the special pre-season showcase to qualify for the championship tournament.
During the two squads’ last meeting on March 6 in Little Rock, Ark., the Outlaws closed out the second-seeded Austin Gamblers 173.05-0. Cassio Dias, the 2024 PBR World Champion and Rookie of the Year, bested Doc Majestic for 87.5 points to clinch the victory for Kansas City. Koltin Hevalow added on to the score with an 85.55-point re-ride outing on Skippy.
While in Indianapolis in late March during the final Monster Energy Team Challenge regular season games, the Kansas City Outlaws (3-1) took down the Arizona Ridge Riders (0-4) to clinch the No. 3 seed in the Monster Energy Team Challenge playoffs with an 87.25-84.30 win. Cassio Dias, the 2024 PBR World Champion, took home the victory for the Outlaws with his 87.25-point ride on One Chance. Seeking a walk-off win in the bottom of the final frame, Keyshawn Whitehorse’s 84.30-point ride on White Command wasn’t enough.
Kansas City earned its first win of the pre-season challenge against the Oklahoma Wildcatters (1-3) 173.15-83.95 while in Milwaukee, Wisc. on Jan. 16 during the second week of play.
On Feb. 6 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the top-seeded Missouri Thunder (4-0) earned a narrow 87.75-0 shutout win over the Outlaws.
The 2026 Monster Energy Team Challenge brought head-to-head PBR Teams matchups into select Unleash The Beast events, adding another layer of competition without changing the UTB format. Each stop featured two 4-on-4 team games contested during Round 1, where riders could earn UTB points and prize money while also competing for their teams for additional payouts and playoff positioning. The format additionally gives team riders not currently competing on the Unleash The Beast tour the opportunity to contend for UTB event wins and points based on their rides in the Team Challenge.
Riders currently on the Outlaws’ roster are Sandro Batista, Maikon Calixto, Cassio Dias, Eric Henrique Domingos, Heitor Santos Ferreira, Koltin Hevalow, Alison Trindade dos Santos, and Pablo Soares.
