Being a World Champion at 20-years-old came with a level of fame and pressure that most could never imagine, and for Jess Lockwood, the "highs" of the gold buckle eventually led to some of his darkest days. In this exclusive sit-down with teammate Cooper Davis, Jess opens up about the mental and physical toll of his journey, including his private battle with Adderall and the strength it took to walk away from it all. With the unwavering support of his family and friends, Jess quit cold turkey and sought peace away from the bright lights, hitting the rodeo trail to help his aunt, legendary barrel racer Lisa Lockhart. It was there, grounded by his roots, that he rediscovered his love for the life of a cowboy.
That rediscovered passion led him back to the PBR, where Coach Jerome Davis and the Carolina Cowboys took a chance on him when the rest of the world was still questioning his future. Jess shares the immense pride he feels wearing that jersey and how the brotherhood of his team—including Cooper himself—pushed them all the way to a Teams Championship.
