Biography

Bodacious entered the early days of PBR as the kind of bull riders talked about before the draw was even posted.

The 1995 PBR World Champion Bull helped define the sport’s first era, bringing national attention to the toughest sport on dirt with a rare mix of size, power and danger. Owned by Sammy Andrews, Bodacious bucked in the PBR during the organization’s formative years and quickly became one of its most recognizable bovine athletes.

In PBR competition, Bodacious was rarely ridden and routinely produced some of the rankest outs of his time. Clint Branger rode him for 92 points at the premier series event in Guthrie, Oklahoma, in 1995, one of the few qualified rides made on the bull. Later that year, Bodacious was matched with Tuff Hedeman at the PBR World Finals, a matchup that became one of the most remembered moments in the sport’s early history after Hedeman was seriously injured.

Bodacious’ impact stretched beyond wins and buckoffs. His reputation made him a mainstream name, drawing attention from national media and helping put PBR’s young tour in front of a wider audience. He was named the 1995 PBR World Champion Bull and remains one of only two bulls to win bucking bull world championships in both the PBR and PRCA.

Bodacious received the PBR Brand of Honor in 2019, cementing his place among the most influential bovine athletes in PBR history. More than a dangerous draw, he became a symbol of the sport’s early identity — rank, unforgiving and impossible to ignore.
