RENO, Nev. –After two action-packed nights in Reno, Nevada, Trace Redd (Malad, Idaho) secured his first event win of the 2026 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour (PWVT) season.
The 20-year-old was first paired with Smokey Bear in Friday night’s Round 1. Unfortunately, he was no match for his powerful bovine partner, hitting the dirt at 4.08 seconds.
Hoping to hit the gas as he entered Saturday night’s opening round, he was paired with Night Games. To the Nevada crowds delight, Redd made the clock, scoring 86.6 points, and securing the Round 2 win.
Entering the final round for the weekend, the Idaho cowboy launched from the chutes aboard Kung Fu Panda, resulting in another 8-second ride and 87.55 points, securing the win at the Reno Events Center.
For his 2-for-3 weekend, Redd netted 136 Velocity Global points and moved to No. 2 in the Velocity standings.
Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.
Macaulie Leather (Calliope, Australia) claimed second place for the weekend after also going 2-for-3.
The 24-year-old, who rides for the Missouri Thunder in the separate PBR Teams league, first put himself on the leaderboard in the opening round Friday night after securing sixth place in Round 1 with an 85.65-point ride aboard Sissys Surprise.
Entering Saturday night’s second round aboard Midnight Tiger, he burst from the chutes in complete control for an 86.45-point score, and a second-place finish in the round.
Leather was laser-focused to make the eight aboard Quick Show as he entered the championship round. Unfortunately, his bovine partner bested him, throwing him to the dirt after 4.14 seconds.
For his efforts, he collected 82 Velocity Global points and is now the No. 1 man in the Velocity standings.
Chase Hamlin (Holton, Kansas) captured third place in Reno.
After conquering his Round 1 matchup against Yo Mamma, turning in an 86-point ride, Hamlin secured a fourth place for the opening round on Friday.
With a determined look, the 33-year-old cowboy conquered his Round 2 matchup against Happy Gambler turning in an 83.30-point ride and securing sixth in the round.
Despite his best efforts as the weekend rolled to a close in the final round, Long Gone won their matchup, throwing Hamlin to the dirt after a mere 1.8 seconds.
For his 2-for-3 finish, Hamlin earned 66 Velocity Global points.
Oklahoma cowboy Trey Kimzey (Strong City, Oklahoma) finished fourth for the weekend.
In Round 1, he was paired with Gas Hog. Clinging to the muscular animal, he fell short – hitting the dirt after 2.79 seconds.
In the opening round on Saturday evening, he was paired with Mesquite Heat, where he made the 8, with an 84.75-point score, and a fourth-place finish in the round.
Setting his sights towards the final round, he geared up for his match with Watch Out. As the Nevada crowd cheered, Kimzey once again conquered the bovine, scoring 83.8 points.
Kimzey collected 55 Velocity Global points for his efforts in Reno.
Rounding out the Top 5 at the Reno Events Center was Saul Zambrano (Jalisco, Mexico).
Zambrano was paired with Scruggs for the first night at the Reno Events Center. As fans cheered, he made quick work of his bovine partner scoring 87.65 points and securing the Round 1 win.
In Round 2, he launched from the chutes aboard Gas Hog, however the bull threw the 20-year-old to the dirt in 3.52 seconds.
Despite his Round 2 buckoff, he was paired with Wreck It Ralph in the championship round. Despite his best efforts, he came down early – hitting the dirt after 2.2 seconds.
For his weekend in Reno, Zambrano earned 45 Velocity Global points and now sits at No. 40 in the standings.
The talented bull riders of the PWVT will next head to Youngstown, Ohio, for Busch Light PBR Youngstown at Covelli Centre Feb. 27-28.
