KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – During the regular-season finale at Ram Trucks PBR Knoxville, Romario Leite (Brotas, Brazil) earned his first Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour (PWVT) win Saturday night at Food City Center.
Leite, a 31-year-old cowboy, put up the highest score of the evening against UB Smooth in the opening round for 87.90 points. Picking Pokemon first in the draft heading into the short-go, Leite was then bucked off his second bull of the day.
Leite’s performance gained him 108 points in the PWVT Standings to catapult to third and within shot of the Championship Buckle to be awarded in Corpus Christi, Texas on May 2 with a total of 537.5 points.
Grayson Cole (New Ringgold, Penn.) continues to maintain a healthy lead in the title race with 655 points as Nick Tetz(Calgary, Canada) sits in the No. 2 position with a season aggregate total of 597.5 points.
Placing second in Knoxville, Kaleb Lewis (Kaufman, Texas) bested Dang, Dang for 86.35 points, earning 68 points in the standings. The finish places Lewis at No. 30 as he aims to qualify for the Finals.
Elijah Jennings (Marietta, S.C.) and Vinicius Rodrigues Pereira (Itapagipe, Brazil) each tied for third with a score of 85.25. Jennings earned his ride against Erner Permer before getting bucked off There’s Your Sign in the short go. Jennings sits at No. 7 headed to Corpus Christi with 475 points.
Pereira bested Martini Houdini in the opening round before falling off Crazy Sox in the Championship Round. Pereira owns the No. 17 slot in the standings with 351 points on the season.
The PWVT will crown a Champion in Corpus Christi May 1-2 with several competitors still eyeing the grand prize and a trip to the PBR Unleash The Beast World Finals (May 7 – 17) in Fort Worth.
