Key Storylines
The dust is flyin’ and the gates are swingin’ as PBR Bulls and Beats takes over Canvas Stadium for three days of rodeo, bull riding, live music and fan-first entertainment in Fort Collins.
The weekend begins Friday night with the Credit One Bank Collegiate All-Star Rodeo Presented by Mahindra Tractors, a groundbreaking new Western sports event bringing together two teams of 30 rodeo athletes representing the 19 Learfield College Rodeo partner programs.
Colorado State University and PBR are joining forces for the one-night-only showdown, which will showcase the best collegiate rodeo talent in the country in a high-intensity, team-driven format. The North team will be led by Joe Beaver and Sid Steiner, while the South team will be coached by Trevor Brazile and Dale Brisby.
Athletes will compete head-to-head across nine disciplines: barrel racing, breakaway roping, team roping, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, goat tying, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding and bull riding. Each discipline features three matchups, creating 27 total head-to-head battles across the full event.
Each matchup is worth one point for the winning team. If a matchup does not produce a winner, the point rolls over, increasing the value of the next matchup until a winner is determined. All 27 matchups will be contested, with the highest total point score at the end determining the champion.
And when the arena action wraps, the party keeps rolling. Country music superstar Brad Paisley will close out Friday night, Bailey Zimmerman will take the stage after Saturday’s PBR Teams action and Miranda Lambert, the most-awarded artist in Academy of Country Music history, will bring the weekend to a powerful close Sunday.
Fans can also take in the full Bulls and Beats experience through Fan Fest, open Friday and Saturday before the main event, featuring music, entertainment and pre-show energy before the chutes crack open inside Canvas Stadium.
On Saturday, the 2026 PBR Teams season officially begins as all 10 teams return to the dirt for five head-to-head matchups. With championship dreams reset and the road to Las Vegas officially underway, every ride counts from the opening out.
One of the biggest stories of opening weekend comes in Austin green and black. Three-time PBR World Champion Jose Vitor Leme returns to the Austin Gamblers after spending the Unleash The Beast season as an unrestricted free agent. Now back with the team that made him the first overall pick in the inaugural PBR Teams Draft, Leme’s return adds immediate firepower to a Gamblers squad looking to make another championship run.
The reigning Champion Carolina Cowboys will also be tested right out of the gate as they take on the Nashville Stampede. Can Carolina come out hot and immediately remind the league why they are the team everyone is chasing?
The Texas Rattlers will have a familiar face back in gold as João Ricardo Vieira dons the Rattlers jersey once again, opening the season against his most recent team, the Florida Freedom.
And in the final matchup of the night, all eyes turn to the Oklahoma Wildcatters as Greg Rhodes leads his squad for the first time as head coach in the post-J.B. Mauney era.
Sunday brings another full slate of PBR Teams matchups as the league’s best riders and bulls close out opening weekend. The season is new, the rivalries are fresh and the road to Vegas starts now.
Triple the music. Triple the mayhem. One massive opening weekend in Fort Collins.
