Freedom Days has arrived, bringing the Freedom back to Amerant Bank Arena for their only home stand of the 2026 regular season. The Freedom enter the weekend 3-2, good for 3rd in the league standings, trailing only the Nashville Stampede and Texas Rattlers, who both sit at 4-1, with Nashville at No. 1 by virtue of having the most total points. With those two heavyweights scheduled to meet later in the weekend, the opportunity is there for Florida to gain valuable ground – provided the Freedom take care of business in front of the home crowd.

Freedom Days couldn’t ask for a bigger way to begin.

The 3-2 Florida Freedom open their home stand against the 3-2 Missouri Thunder, a matchup featuring two teams separated only by the standings tiebreaker after the opening two events of the season in Fort Collins and Oklahoma City.

Florida currently owns that edge thanks to its higher cumulative score through the opening five games of the season, but with both teams sitting just one game behind the Nashville Stampede and Texas Rattlers, Friday night’s opener has the potential to reshape the championship race before the weekend is over.

If the Freedom want to capitalize on home dirt, the work starts the moment the first gate cracks.

The Matchups That Could Decide Opening Night

John Crimber vs. Fringe Minority

The reigning PBR World Champion and two-time reigning PBR Teams MVP remains the centerpiece of the Florida Freedom lineup.

The question isn’t whether John Crimber can ride Fringe Minority –
or any other bull they run underneath him. He’s the reigning PBR World Champion for a reason. It’s whether his sore groin will allow him to string together three qualified rides over the course of Freedom Days. If he’s healthy enough to perform at his usual level, Florida’s chances of defending home dirt increase dramatically.

Boudreaux Campbell vs. Bad Boy

One of the weekend’s biggest storylines is the return of veteran Boudreaux Campbell.

Florida quietly added one of the sport’s most experienced riders, and his matchup with Bad Boy offers an immediate opportunity to make an impact in a Freedom jersey.

Welcome back to the league, Boudreaux.

Austin Richardson vs. Feel the Magic

Austin Richardson burst onto the scene during the opening weekend before cooling off in Oklahoma City.

A qualified ride aboard Feel the Magic could be exactly what Florida needs to keep momentum on its side while helping Richardson rediscover the form that made him one of the Freedom’s early-season standouts.

Alex Cerqueira vs. Big Red

There’s a reason they call Alex Cerqueira “The Killer.”

When he hears the whistle, Cerqueira celebrates by drawing an imaginary bow and firing a pretend arrow at the bull – as if to say, “Gotcha. Bullseye.”

Longtime PBR fans will recognize the celebration as a tribute to “The Cherokee Kid,” Ryan Dirteater, who made the signature arrow celebration famous throughout his career.

If Cerqueira reaches the whistle against Big Red, don’t be surprised if Amerant Bank Arena erupts as fans get to witness that familiar celebration once again.

Paulo Eduardo Rossetto vs. Scrappy

Missouri brings the current leader in the PBR Teams MVP race into Sunrise.

Paulo Eduardo Rossetto’s ability to ride with either hand makes him one of the most versatile riders in professional bull riding, but versatility doesn’t guarantee success. Bucking bulls don’t read scouting reports.

If Scrappy settles into one spin, this pairing has all the ingredients for an 88-to-90-point ride. If the bull changes directions, Rossetto’s ability to adjust on the fly could determine whether Missouri gains early momentum or gives Florida an opening.

The Riders Who Could Shape Freedom Days

While Florida remains the story this weekend, several riders arrive in Sunrise with compelling storylines of their own.

Paulo Eduardo Rossetto — Missouri Thunder

The current PBR Teams MVP leader has been the man to beat through the opening two events. Another strong weekend could strengthen his grip on the top spot.

Kaiden Loud — Oklahoma Wildcatters

Just 0.75 points behind Rossetto, Loud enters Freedom Days with more than an MVP race on the line.
