Key Storylines
José Vitor Leme returns home with 91 career 90-point rides at the premier level, three shy of Chris Shivers’ record of 94. The three-time PBR World Champion and two-time PBR Teams MVP also leads the 2026 MVP race after going 9-for-11 for 796.7 aggregate points. With three games on Austin’s home dirt, Leme could tie one of bull riding’s most celebrated records while helping the 5–6 Gamblers chase a perfect homestand. Three bulls, 24 seconds and another piece of PBR history could be within reach in Gambler green.
All five riders atop the MVP standings have attempted 11 bulls entering the weekend. Leme leads with 796.7 aggregate points after going 9-for-11 for an 81.82% riding percentage. Paulo Eduardo Rossetto sits second, 92.05 points behind Leme, while Sandro Batista is third, 99.90 points off the lead. Rossetto and Batista are each 8-for-11, with Batista’s strong start helping Kansas City look like the powerhouse fans remember from the league’s early years. Nashville teammates Riquelmi Silva and Rogério Venâncio round out the Top 5. Both are 7-for-11, with Silva holding fourth place by just 0.10 points.
Nashville will arrive in Austin looking to maintain its league-leading form after finishing its homestand with a walk-off win over Oklahoma. However, its loss to the Carolina Cowboys reinforced one of the season’s biggest storylines: Carolina remains the only team to beat the Broadway Boys in 2026. Can Nashville continue rolling, or have the Cowboys revealed a blueprint for slowing them down?
Oklahoma, meanwhile, is still trying to put all the pieces together. The Wildcatters showed flashes of their potential in Nashville, where 18-year-old Jack Mitchell made his PBR Teams debut, but they closed the weekend without a score Sunday. Kase Hitt has also offered glimpses of the rider he can become, and the new dad heads to Austin with added gumption.
The Kansas City Outlaws could also get another boost from the “Ginga Ninja,” Hayden Welsh, who is still chasing his first perfect weekend. Welsh went 2-for-3 in each of his first two PBR weekends and enters Gambler Days 4-for-6 to begin his career. Now, he will look to break through with his first 3-for-3 performance.
The Missouri Thunder welcome Maverick Smith back to the lineup after he tore ligaments in his wrist, an injury he also dealt with at the PBR World Finals. Smith has been practicing with his riding hand turned backward to return at Gambler Days.
Florida could eventually receive a boost of its own from Wingson Henrique da Silva, a recent trade acquisition from the Oklahoma Wildcatters, who got some practice time Monday at injured anchor John Crimber’s house. Crimber helped buck practice bulls for his new teammate as Silva looks to show out for the Freedom in Austin.
