The 2026 PBR Teams season rolls into Greensboro, North Carolina, this weekend for Cowboy Days presented by Patriot Mobile at First Horizon Coliseum.

The eighth event of the season brings all 10 teams to North Carolina for three days of five-on-five bull riding games as the regular-season race continues to tighten heading toward the PBR Teams Championship.

Key Storylines

Cowboy Days arrives with several notable injury updates and roster moves across the league as teams continue adjusting for the stretch run.

The Oklahoma Wildcatters could get a boost with Cort McFadden cleared to come off injured reserve following double groin surgery. Whether he returns in Greensboro or waits another week remains to be seen, but his clearance gives Oklahoma another option moving forward.

The Wildcatters, however, will be without Marcelo Procopio Pereira, who underwent surgery Monday after suffering a compound/open fracture of the humerus Sunday in Anaheim. It was quite possibly the most gruesome injury of the PBR Teams season so far. Oklahoma will miss him in the lineup while wishing him a speedy recovery.

Kase Hitt will also remain home this weekend as he continues recovering after taking hits in back-to-back weekends. Hitt was already dealing with wrist issues before suffering a hairline rib fracture in Ridgedale, then sustained a soft-tissue injury to his throat from a bull horn the following weekend.

Carolina, meanwhile, has been busy reshaping its roster.

The Cowboys added Joao Henrique Lucas via DOI from New York to the protected roster and currently have Derek Kolbaba and Keyshawn Whitehorse on injured reserve.

With both IR spots occupied and the reserve roster full, Carolina also recently moved on from Jake Lockwood, who has returned to the rodeo trail, opening up valuable roster flexibility.

The Cowboys then added rodeo rider Ethan Skogquist to the protected roster, and as of now, he is slated to make his PBR Teams debut Friday night in Greensboro.

Carolina’s current protected roster includes Clay Guiton, Jess Lockwood, Henrique Lucas, Adriano Salgado, Thiago Salgado, Skogquist and Guilherme Valieras, with Trey Kimzey, Kaleb Lewis and Ezekiel Mitchell on the reserve roster.

New York is also still waiting on the return of Hudson Bolton, who broke his jaw and required emergency surgery while competing on the rodeo trail. Bolton is expected back after Cowboy Days, giving the Mavericks another major piece to look forward to as the postseason approaches.

Kansas City made an addition of its own, signing Boston Leather to the reserve roster as an unrestricted free agent following his New York Challenger Series win. Leather most recently competed in PBR Teams for Kansas City rival Missouri Thunder before returning home to Australia, setting up a little sibling rivalry with his brother, Macaulie Leather, still serving as a cornerstone for the Thunder.

Macaulie is coming off a career-high 93.35-point ride in California that helped propel Missouri to a win, but his impact has gone beyond the scoreboard. On Saturday, he gave up his bull to teammate Mason Taylor, another example of the Aussie putting the team first as Missouri continues its run atop the standings.

And then there is Joao Ricardo Vieira, who continues to age like fine wine.

Despite competing without an ACL in either knee and eventually needing both knees reconstructed, Vieira has been on 13 bulls in the last 3 weeks and has recorded 10 scores during that stretch. He also made the trip to Barretos and continues to show the younger riders in the Texas Rattlers locker room exactly what love of the game looks like.

Vieira enters Greensboro sitting at 487 career qualified rides, inching closer to another major milestone while continuing to prove that experience still matters plenty in PBR Teams.

The top of the standings arrives in Greensboro with plenty of momentum. The Missouri Thunder hold the No. 1 spot at 14-6 with 4,247.05 points, while the Nashville Stampede sit just behind them at No. 2 with the same 14-6 record and 4,154.05 points. Both teams went a perfect 3-0 in Anaheim and have already proven this season that when they get rolling, they are capable of stringing together wins across multiple weekends.

But don’t count out the veterans in green.

The Austin Gamblers also went 3-0 in Anaheim and enter Cowboy Days sitting fourth in the standings, giving the 2024 PBR Teams Champions plenty of momentum of their own heading into Greensboro.

With injuries reshaping lineups, new faces entering the mix and the standings tightening as the regular season moves deeper into its second half, Cowboy Days gives every team another chance to make a statement.
