GLENDALE, ARIZ. – The hometown Arizona Ridge Riders (12-15) kicked off their homestand at Desert Diamond Arena by upsetting the No. 4 Austin Gamblers (16-11) 175.90-0 during the opening night of PBR Teams: Ridge Rider Days presented by Energy Transfer in Glendale, Arizona Thursday.

“This couldn’t have been at a better time. We really needed a win. It’s been a little bit dry here lately, but we have a super tough team,” Arizona Ridge Riders Head Coach Colby Yates shared postgame on the Paramount+ broadcast.

“I knew when we stepped into this building we were going to have the fans behind us because we have the best fans that PBR has to offer and we have the best building here at Desert Diamond Arena. It’s just such a great place to be and this is a big moment for us. Every time we come home to Arizona, we want to show you what we got and we’re lucky to get this win tonight.”

Everton Natan da Silva (Viradouro, Brazil) earned the Ridge Riders an early lead during Thursday’s finale. Arizona’s leadoff rider went the distance atop Husky to get the Desert Diamond Arena crowd on their feet en route to recording 87.25 points. Shedding a 12-out buckoff streak while securing the win for Arizona in the bottom of the fourth, Elizmar Jeremias bested Wild Country for 88.65 points to clinch the Ridge Riders a weekend-opening win on home dirt.

The No. 1 Missouri Thunder (19-8) rode four bulls to defend their two-game lead atop the PBR Teams standings by defeating the New York Mavericks (10-17) 336.20-0. Thunder leadoff rider Paulo Eduardo Rossetto (Colorado, Brazil) opened the fourth game with a flash of lightning, scored 89.20 points on Cookie as the red-hot cowboy recorded his 17th ride across his last 19 outs, now 22-for-27 this season. Rossetto moved to within 9.75 points behind Jose Vitor Leme (Ribas do Rio Pardo, Brazil) in the PBR Teams MVP race following his ride.

Julio Cesar Marques (Tatuí, Brazil) made it two-straight for Missouri in the second after besting Tchoupitoulas for 85.65 points as the league’s top-ranked team dominated early. Macaulie Leather (Calliope, Australia) survived the requisite 8 aboard Freight Train for 77.45 points in the third, as the Thunder declined a re-ride opportunity, instead opting to keep the points. In the bottom of the fifth, Angelo Rossetto (Colorado, Brazil), brother to teammate Paulo Eduardo Rossetto, knocked his first PBR Teams attempt out of the park. Scored 83.90 points during his premier series debut, Rossetto went the distance on Buckwheat to complete Missouri’s 4-for-5 outing with a celebration.

The Nashville Stampede (17-10) handed the Oklahoma Wildcatters (9-18) a close 2.80-point loss courtesy of a clutch ride in the bottom of the fifth to kick off Thursday’s electric slate of games. Eduardo Matos (Emilianópolis, Brazil) immediately got the Wildcatters on the board during the first out of the night, scored 88.40 points on Mayor of Hogeye. Nashville’s Alan de Souza (Tremembé, Brazil) answered with an 8-second effort of his own in the bottom of the first en route to earning the Stampede a .20-point lead, marked 88.60 points on Boomtown. Despite falling into an unideal position early in the out, Brock Poulin (Sulphur, Oklahoma) held on until the buzzer sounded to grant the Wildcatters an 85.05-point advantage in the fourth. The 21-year-old earned 85.25 points for the first qualified ride of his PBR Teams career aboard Little Tony. But Riquelmi Silva (Bom Jesus do Araguaia, Brazil) saved the best for last, as the Brazilian cowboy went the distance on Money Hustler (88.85) to secure the win for Nashville in dramatic, walk-off fashion. The clutch qualified ride represented Silva’s league-best fourth walk-off ride of the season as the Stampede ended their four-game losing streak via the 177.45-173.65 final.

During a heavyweight battle between two of the league’s Top 5-ranked squads, the Carolina Cowboys (17-10) rode three bulls to defeat the Texas Rattlers (14-13). Guilherme Valleiras (Pirassununga, Brazil) recorded his fourth-consecutive ride during the bottom of the second to strike first for the Cowboys, as Carolina’s qualified ride leader advanced to 14-for-22 on the season via his 88.25 points on Sunrise. Jean Carlos Teodoro (Mirante Do Paranapanema, Brazil) matched Margin of Error’s every move to earn 87.65 points in the top of the third for Texas, but a third-straight conversion from Clay Guiton (Cherryville, North Carolina) quickly re-established the lead for the Cowboys. Scored a season-high 90.10 points for his 8 seconds aboard Mystified, Guiton’s confidence was on full display.

“It feels good to be back. When it starts rolling it just starts rolling. I guess I like the ones that nobody else gets along with,” Guiton shared on the Paramount+ broadcast following his ride. “I’ve been going fast and not thinking about it. Just getting mad when I get up in there and it’s been working out.”

Two-time PBR World Champion Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) kept the momentum flowing in the fourth, adding 86.95 points atop Love County to Carolina’s hot start while putting the Cowboys ahead two bull scores. Despite a late re-ride conversion from Daniel Keeping (Montague, Texas), who bested Tijuana Two-Step for 87.35 points, the Cowboys secured the 265.30-175 win, Carolina’s third-consecutive victory.

The Kansas City Outlaws (11-16) rode three-straight bulls to beat the Florida Freedom (10-17), now victorious in five of the team’s last seven games. The Outlaws’ PBR Teams MVP frontrunner Sandro Batista (Pedra Preta, Brazil) stayed hot in Game 3, going the distance atop Young Buck for 87.60 points before Eric Henrique Domingos (Pérola, Brazil) recorded his seventh-straight ride (87.40 points on Hay Walker) to continue Kansas City’s electric start. Murilo Henrique de Oliveira (Pereira Barreto, Brazil) got the Freedom on the board in the bottom of the second, scored 85.85 points on Rank Hank. But Maikon Calixton Rocha (Orindiúva, Brazil) quickly provided a third-consecutive conversion for the Outlaws to earn Kansas City a two-score advantage in the top of the third. With the game’s final five outs resulting in buckoffs, the Outlaws captured their second-straight win, 262.40-85.85.

The second day of PBR Teams: Ridge Rider Days presented by Energy Transfer at Desert Diamond Arena continues Friday, Oct. 9 at 7:45 p.m. MST. All five of Friday’s games will air live at 8 p.m. MST on Paramount+. Tickets are available to purchase at ticketmaster.com and PBR.com.
