No. 3 Nashville Stampede secure final first-round bye at 2026 PBR Teams Championship.
By James Youness
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Hayden Welsh (Gillette, Wyoming) recorded a career-high 91.35 points atop Humdinger as the final man to go the distance in the 2026 PBR Teams regular season to help the hometown Kansas City Outlaws (16-9) defeat the Carolina Cowboys (19-16) 180.15-176 to conclude PBR Teams: Outlaw Days presented by Bad Boy Mowers and Tractors in Kansas City, Missouri, Sunday.
The Nashville Stampede (19-16) defeated the Missouri Thunder (24-11) and secured the final first-round bye at the 2026 PBR Teams Championship (Nov. 6-8) after Kansas City defeated the Cowboys. The Stampede clinched the No. 3 seed via aggregate score tiebreaker over the Cowboys to join the No. 1 Thunder and No. 2 Austin Gamblers (22-13) as the league’s Top 3 seeds.
The No. 8 Arizona Ridge Riders (15-20), No. 9 Florida Freedom (15-20) and No. 10 Oklahoma Wildcatters (13-22) will participate in next month’s Ride-In Game, set to duke it out for the eighth and final seed at the 2026 PBR Teams Championship.
Three-time PBR Teams MVP Jose Vitor Leme (Ribas do Rio Pardo, Brazil) did not compete Sunday afternoon but still ended the 2026 season with a PBR Teams record-setting 29 qualified rides. Leme also earned the league’s “Great 8” Award for the highest riding percentage in the league (87.88).
Jean Carlos Teodoro (Mirante Do Paranapanema, Brazil) of the Texas Rattlers was named the 2026 PBR Teams Rookie of the Year, while two-time PBR World Champion Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) of the Carolina Cowboys ended the season with the highest-scored ride, marked 93.90 points on Lights Out at Rattler Days in Fort Worth.
During the final game of the regular season, the hometown Outlaws completed their homestand with a 2-1 record courtesy of a tight win over the Cowboys. Kansas City won 10 of the last 15 games of the season. Thiago Salgado (Naviraí, Brazil) kickstarted the game with 88.55 points aboard Snoop Dog as his team’s leadoff rider. Clay Guiton (Cherryville, North Carolina) moved Carolina two bulls ahead by exiting his head-to-head showdown with Mildred’s Revenge scored 87.45 points. But Eric Henrique Domingos (Pérola, Brazil) kept the Outlaws in the game during the bottom of the third, marked 88.80 points atop Full Mercy. However, it was his teammate Hayden Welsh who provided the game-winning ride in the bottom of the fourth in epic fashion. The 21-year-old matched Humdinger’s every move to notch a career-high 91.35 points and spoil Carolina’s chance of securing a Top 3 seed at the 2026 PBR Teams Championship.
“Praise God. Yesterday I was feeling pretty sore, and I said a prayer before bed. If Jesus went through what he went through on that cross, I can suck it up a little and go be 90,” Welsh said after his ride on the CW broadcast. “I told Guilherme Marchi I needed a 90-point ride to make some money this weekend, so all glory to God. Yes Ma’am, the Grizzly Bear’s back.”
The Austin Gamblers rode two bulls to defeat their rival Texas Rattlers (17-18) and win the Land.com Texas Cup in Game 1. Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole, Texas) recorded a personal season-high 88.70 points on Swisher as Austin’s leadoff rider. Vinicius Pinheiro Correa (Aimores, Brazil) went the distance aboard Iceman for 89 points in the top of the third to put the Gamblers ahead two rides before Australian Qynn Andersen (Koumala, Australia) survived the requisite atop Political Cowboy (87.50) during the game’s next out to get the Rattlers on the scoreboard. But Andersen’s conversion was Texas’s only 8-second effort as the Gamblers captured the 177.70-87.50 victory.
The Oklahoma Wildcatters rode three bulls to upset the New York Mavericks, 265.25-176.60. Eduardo Matos(Emilianópolis, Brazil) bested King Cobra for 89.30 points in the top of the first before Marco Rizzo (Quitman, Georgia) went the distance on Intoxicated for 88.30 points to bring the Mavericks within a point. Winy dos Santos (Loanda, Brazil) improved the Wildcatters to a 2-for-2 start by matching Baylor’s Bandit step-for-step (88.55) before Afonso Quintino (São Luís de Montes Belos, Brazil) recorded a second score for the Mavericks, marked 88.30 points on Mighty Mouse. Natanael Serra (Fernandópolis, Brazil) topped Show Me Dollars for 87.40 points in the top of the fourth during the game’s final ride, and the Wildcatters won three bulls to two.
The Arizona Ridge Riders beat the Florida Freedom during Sunday’s third game three rides to one. Veteran cowboy Luciano De Castro (Guzolandia, Brazil) bested Super Trooper for 88.35 points during Florida’s opening out to advance his qualified ride streak to six, but Florida’s leadoff rider was the lone member of the Freedom to survive the requisite 8 Sunday. Eduardo Aparecido (Gouvelandia, Brazil) went the distance aboard Hermes in the top of the second to provide Arizona some early momentum and 87.45 points. Vitor Manoel Dias (Sales, Brazil) clinched the win for Arizona in the bottom of the fourth, scored 77.55 points following his 8-second dance with Hale’s Bells. Vitor Losnake (Piratininga, Brazil) recorded 77.75 points atop Trouble Shooter in the fifth to solidify Arizona’s 15th win of the season.
Sunday’s fourth game featured five combined rides as the Stampede upset the No. 1 Thunder. Paulo Eduardo Rossetto(Colorado, Brazil) led off for Missouri with his 28th qualified ride of the season by besting Ugly This (89.10) and the No. 2-ranked cowboy in the PBR Teams MVP race ended the 2026 regular season with another conversion. Ramon Fiorini(Serra Negra, Brazil) made it two-straight for the Thunder in the second, scored 88.60 points on Live Bait. But a furious trio of rides from Nashville in the second, third and fourth frames positioned the inaugural PBR Teams Champions with a one-score lead, as Gustavo Luiz da Silva (Inocência, Brazil), Rogério Venâncio (Paranaita, Brazil) and Damião Soares(Juara, Brazil) teamed up for the win. Silva bested Scruggs (87.70) in the second, while Venâncio went the distance aboard All In during the third for 89.25 points. Soares logged his first qualified ride of the season, marked 85.15 points on TNT, as the game’s final conversion.
Buck Nasty was the high-marked bull of the event with 45.85 points, dispatching Eric Henrique Domingos of Kansas City in 1.62 seconds during Friday’s opening slate of games.
PBR Teams will conclude its 2026 slate during the 2026 PBR Teams Championship at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Nov. 6-8. Tickets are available to purchase at ticketmaster.com and PBR.com.
