New York Mavericks ride four bulls to open Go Bowling Maverick Days with win over Ridge Riders

No. 1 Missouri Thunder climb within one win of Top 3 seed at 2026 PBR Teams Championship via win over Oklahoma Wildcatters.

By James Youness

BELMONT PARK, N.Y. – The hometown New York Mavericks (12-18) rode four bulls to kickstart their homestand at UBS Arena with a 351.60-173.35 win against the Arizona Ridge Riders (14-16) during the opening night of PBR Teams: Go Bowling Maverick Days in Belmont Park, New York, Friday.

Friday’s PBR Teams action intensified the championship race, as the Missouri Thunder (22-8) moved within one win of securing a Top 3 seed and first-round bye, while the No. 2 Austin Gamblers (18-12) extended their winning streak and the New York Mavericks climbed to No. 8 – just one game behind the Kansas City Outlaws (13-17). The Nashville Stampede (18-12) also strengthened their playoff position with a dramatic walk-off victory, while the Texas Rattlers (15-15) ended a three-game skid to keep pace in the postseason push.

New York channeled the support from an electric audience early, as Bob Mitchell (Steelville, Missouri) went the distance atop Sunrise for 88.05 points during the Mavericks’ first out before Mauricio Gulla Moreira (Gaviao Peixoto, Brazil) doubled down for the home team, scored 89.05 points on Show Biz in the bottom of the second. Marco Rizzo (Quitman, Georgia) kept the momentum flowing in the third by besting Big Iron for 88.25 points, while Afonso Quintino (São Luís de Montes Belos, Brazil) bested Nelson for 86.25 points in the fourth. Despite drawing a re-ride attempt in the fifth, New York’s Hudson Bolton (Milan, Tennessee) was unable to complete the perfect game, bucking off in a heartbreaking 7.83 seconds.

“It means everything to do this here at home and I couldn’t be happier with this team. They’re a bunch of studs,” New York Mavericks Head Coach Kody Lostroh said on the Paramount+ broadcast.

“You guys are the best fans in the world, and we appreciate you coming out to see us.”

Lostroh and Rizzo, along with 18-year-old Mavericks rider Dalton Allred, who is injured and did not compete tonight, visited Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center yesterday, coloring, signing autographs, and participating in an interview at Seacrest Studios, available for young patients unable to leave their rooms.

Eduardo Aparecido (Gouvelandia, Brazil) scored 84.10 points in the second for the Ridge Riders and Vitor Losnake(Piratininga, Brazil) added an 89.25-point conversion for Arizona in the top of the fifth, but it was New York who claimed victory in the final game of the night and improved to No. 8 in the PBR Teams standings, now just one game back from the Kansas City Outlaws.

The Missouri Thunder rode three bulls to defeat the Oklahoma Wildcatters (10-20) 255.95-176.15 and inch within one win of securing a Top 3 seed and associated first-round bye during the 2026 PBR Teams Championship in Las Vegas (Nov. 6-8). During the first out of the night, Paulo Eduardo Rossetto (Colorado, Brazil) got the Thunder off to a furious start by besting Hay Train for 88.10 points. Missouri’s standout leadoff rider advanced to 24-for-30 while climbing within 3.5 points of Jose Vitor (Ribas do Rio Pardo) for the top spot in the PBR Teams MVP race. Eduardo Matos(Emilianópolis, Brazil) recorded an identical 88.10 points atop Oreo Blast in the bottom of the first to tie the game for the Wildcatters. The electric back-and-forth game raged on, as Julio Cesar Marques (Tatuí, Brazil) went the distance on Leefor 83.70 points in the second to grant Missouri the lead before Winy dos Santos (Loanda, Brazil) matched Kangaroojump-for-jump (88.05 points) to reclaim the lead for Oklahoma in the bottom of the third. Missouri’s Ramon Fiorini(Serra Negra, Brazil) provided the game-winning ride in the top of the fourth, scored 84.15 points dancing with Bullet, to grant Missouri their fourth-straight win and the team’s franchise-best 22nd victory.

The Nashville Stampede (18-12) defeated the Carolina Cowboys (17-13) 265.80-252.35 courtesy of a dramatic, walk-off re-ride conversion. The second showcase of the evening featured five lead changes in the first five outs of the game. Adriano Salgado (Batatais, Brazil) opened the game with 83.40 points on Louisville Slugger before Alan de Souza(Tremembé, Brazil) recorded an elite 90.05-point ride aboard Living On A Prayer. The teams exchanged conversions again in the second, as Guilherme Valleiras (Pirassununga, Brazil) scored 89.60 points on Without Warning before Daniel Feitosa (Guaraci, Brazil) responded with 88.15 points atop Joker to battle Nashville back in front. The Cowboys declined a re-ride in the top of the third, keeping Clay Guiton’s (Cherryville, North Carolina) 79.35 points earned against Gambler to sit atop the scoreboard once more. However, Riquelmi Silva (Bom Jesus do Araguaia, Brazil) recorded his fifth walk-off ride of the season, marked a clutch 87.60 points on UB Smooth in the bottom of the fifth, to clinch the win for Nashville.

The Texas Rattlers (15-15) completed a late-game comeback to beat the Florida Freedom (11-19), 174.75-87.95. Daniel Keeping (Montague, Texas) kicked things off with an 87.20-point ride on Big X in the top of the second to get the Rattlers on the scoreboard before Luciano De Castro (Guzolandia, Brazil) went the distance aboard The HONDO (87.95 points) to give Florida the lead during his debut with the Freedom. The experienced cowboy was acquired from the Arizona Ridge Riders via trade earlier in the week. However, it was fellow veteran João Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Brazil) who provided the game-winning ride for Texas in the top of the fifth. The 42-year-old matched Bulldog step-for-step to the tune of 87.55 points to end the Rattlers’ three-game losing streak and round out Friday’s third game.

During the fourth game of the night, the Austin Gamblers (18-12) rode three bulls to defend their No. 2 rank and defeat the Kansas City Outlaws, 262.55-174.50. Jose Vitor Leme extended his lead atop the PBR Teams MVP race to 90.65 points by surviving the requisite 8 aboard Getcha Some (87.15 points) during Austin’s opening out. Sandro Batista(Pedra Preta, Brazil) recorded his fifth-straight qualified ride for Kansas City, marked 87.95 points on Show Me The Money, to put the Outlaws ahead in the bottom of the first. But a quick pair of follow-up conversions from Sage Steele Kimzey (Strong City, Oklahoma) and Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) in the second and third, scored 86.60 points on Soldiers Creed and 88.80 points on Flyin’ Solo, respectively, put Austin up two bull scores. Maikon Calixton Rocha(Orindiúva, Brazil) went the distance atop Birthday Cake (86.55 points) in the bottom of the third to bring the Outlaws within one score. But with Kansas City unable to ride a third bull, the Gamblers secured their second-straight victory Friday night.

The second day of PBR Teams: Go Bowling Maverick Days at UBS Arena continues Saturday, Oct. 17 at 6:45 p.m. ET. All five of Saturday’s games will air at 10:30 p.m. ET on the CW. Tickets are available to purchase at ticketmaster.com and PBR.com.
