No. 1 Missouri Thunder clinch first-round bye with perfect-game win over Austin Gamblers

Texas Rattlers, Missouri Thunder log second and third-highest team scores in PBR Teams history while pack records PBR Teams-best 29 conversions

By James Youness

BELMONT PARK, N.Y. – The Missouri Thunder (23-8) rode five bulls to record their first-ever perfect game and secure a franchise-best 23rd regular-season win by defeating the Austin Gamblers (18-13) at UBS Arena during the second night of PBR Teams: Go Bowling Maverick Days in Belmont Park, New York, Saturday. Missouri’s 437.65 points are the third-most recorded in PBR Teams history.

The PBR Teams sprint to the postseason intensified with just four games remaining ahead of the 2026 PBR Teams Championship in Las Vegas (Nov. 6-8 at T-Mobile Arena). The Thunder became the first team to secure a Top 3 seed and first-round bye, while the Carolina Cowboys (18-13) ended their three-game losing streak to maintain their Top 4 rank. The Kansas City Outlaws (14-17) defeated the Arizona Ridge Riders (14-17) to surpass their Saturday night opponent for the No. 6 rank in the PBR Teams standings. The Texas Rattlers (16-15) logged the second-highest score in PBR Teams history (443.95) courtesy of the franchise’s fourth perfect game, beating the Nashville Stampede (18-13) with the evening’s second 5-for-5 showing to sit two games behind Carolina.

Throughout Saturday’s five games, the world’s best top bull riders produced a 29-for-50 slate to win 58% of the head-to-head, man-vs.-beast showdowns, a PBR Teams record for the most qualified rides in a single day.

Each of the Top 2-ranked riders in the PBR Teams MVP race went the distance as their respective teams’ leadoff riders in Saturday’s second game as Austin and Missouri combined for nine conversions. Paulo Eduardo Rossetto (Colorado, Brazil) bested Real Deal for 88.90 points in the game’s opening out before three-time PBR World Champion Jose Vitor Leme (Ribas do Rio Pardo, Brazil) topped Outlaw for 88.75 points as the league’s two hottest riders exchanged early conversions. As the heavy-hitting contest raged on, Missouri’s Julio Cesar Marques (Tatuí, Brazil) went the distance atop Simon Says for 88.50 points before Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) matched King Ding A Ling’s every move for 88.15 points to round out the second. Felipe Furlan (Sales Oliveira, Brazil) teamed up with Velvet Revolver for 87.95 points in the top of the third, while Callum Miller (Warwick, Australia) kept Austin’s perfect start and the high-scoring affair alive with an 86.80-point conversion on Freak N Fire. Macaulie Leather (Calliope, Australia) began the fourth with an 8-second effort atop High Cotton (85.70) before Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole, Texas) logged his first qualified ride of the season, scored 88.55 points on Heavy Load. Yet, it was Maverick Smith’s (Cabool, Missouri) perfect slate-sealing, contest-winning 86.60 points against Happy Hour in the top of the fifth which served as the game-winner.

“That’s our first time riding five bulls, right? My hat’s off to our team. We work hard every single day but every Tuesday we ride practice bulls at my house. They put in the work in. I’m so proud of each one of these guys,” Missouri Thunder Head Coach Ross Coleman said on the CW broadcast. “We’re a family. We’re doing good.”

In Game 1, the Kansas City Outlaws rode three bulls to stay hot and knock off the Arizona Ridge Riders. Everton Natan da Silva (Viradouro, Brazil) recorded a season-high 90.45 points atop The Kraken to give the Ridge Riders an early lead in the bottom of the first. Eric Henrique Domingos (Pérola, Brazil) exited his dance with Steppin’ Out with a qualified ride, scored 87.30 points to bring the Outlaws within 3.15 points in the top of the second before Sandro Batista (Pedra Preta, Brazil) went the distance for 88.60 points during a re-ride attempt aboard Dragon Slayer to reclaim the lead for Kansas City. Veteran Eduardo Aparecido (Gouvelandia, Brazil) grinded Arizona back to within .80 points courtesy of an 84.65-point conversion on Aggie Pete. However, Hayden Welsh (Gillette, Wyoming) solidified the win for the Outlaws in the bottom of the fifth via 88.55 points against Iceberg Slim as the game’s final qualified ride. Kansas City has won seven of their last nine.

The Carolina Cowboys bounced back into the win column by defeating the Oklahoma Wildcatters (10-21). Thiago Salgado (Naviraí, Brazil) bested Strike Zone for 89.05 points in the bottom of the first to give Carolina an early advantage before Guilherme Valleiras (Pirassununga, Brazil) went the distance atop Organized Chaos (88 points) and advanced the Cowboys to 2-for-2. Ezekiel Mitchell (Rockdale Texas) added a third score for Carolina in the bottom of the fourth as the Cowboys cruised to a 264.80-0 win, ending the team’s three-game skid.

The Texas Rattlers etched their place in PBR Teams history with an epic 5-for-5 showing in beating the Nashville Stampede in Game 4. Josh Frost (Randlett, Utah) kickstarted an early run for the Rattlers with his first qualified ride of the season, scored 88.50 points on Smooth Movin Train, while Daniel Keeping (Montague, Texas) kept the momentum flowing for Texas in the second by besting Karla’s Pure Country (88.45 points). Daniel Feitosa (Guaraci, Brazil) answered with an 83.45-point strike aboard Party Down South to get Nashville on the board in the bottom of the second before Rogério Venâncio (Paranaita, Brazil) made it two-straight to battle the Stampede back in the third. Brady Fielder(Clermont, Australia) stayed hot with a season-high 91.85 points on Wicked Solo in the top of the fourth as the Rattlers were rolling. Veteran João Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Brazil) went the distance aboard Davy Jones (89.15) in the fifth to secure a fourth score for Texas. Following a sequence of re-rides, Qynn Andersen (Koumala, Australia) stepped into a perfect game-clinching scenario and knocked the opportunity of the park, scored 86 points on Blue Moon. Texas surpassed Missouri’s 5-for-5 effort earlier in the night as the league’s second-highest scored result while doubling as the Rattler’s fourth perfect game to date.

“We think we’re going to have a perfect game a lot of the time, but they’re rare and they feel really good,” Texas Rattlers Head Coach Cody Lambert said on the CW broadcast. “It’s fun to be winning games, and it’s good to be feeling good this time of the year.”

Luciano De Castro (Guzolandia, Brazil) advanced to 2-for-2 as a member of the Florida Freedom (12-19) since being acquired from the Arizona Ridge Riders earlier this week with an 89.35-point conversion atop The Heat to grant Florida an early lead. Murilo Henrique de Oliveira (Pereira Barreto, Brazil) gave the Freedom a two-score lead in the top of the second, marked a season-high 90.10 points on R Watson. Mauricio Gulla Moreira (Gaviao Peixoto, Brazil) responded with a season-best 91.05 points atop Dead Red to round out the second and get the hometown crowd on their feet. But Vinicius Rodrigues Pereira (Itapagipe, Brazil) recorded a third-straight conversion for the Freedom to conclude the team’s “Battle for the Battle” rivalry series win against the hometown Mavericks.

The final day of PBR Teams: Go Bowling Maverick Days at UBS Arena concludes Sunday, Oct. 18 at 1:45 p.m. ET. All five of Sunday’s games will air live at 2 p.m. ET on the CW. Tickets are available to purchase at ticketmaster.com and PBR.com.
