HOME DIRT, HIGH STAKES FOR KANSAS CITY

The Kansas City Outlaws return to T-Mobile Center at 14-18, ranked No. 6 with three games remaining in the 2026 PBR Teams regular season.

Kansas City sits tied with Arizona at 14-18, one game ahead of New York and Florida and three ahead of Oklahoma, making its final homestand an opportunity to secure a spot above the Championship Ride-In Game cutline.

It will not come easily.

The Outlaws open Friday against No. 8 New York, welcome regular-season champion Missouri on Saturday for the final Show-Me State Showdown of 2026 and close Sunday against No. 3 Carolina.

Kansas City's projected Friday lineup features Sandro Batista, Maikon Calixton Rocha, Bruno Carvalho, Hayden Welsh and Eric Henrique Domingos.

Batista enters the weekend No. 3 in the MVP standings with 1,843.40 points and 21 qualified rides, while Kansas City ranks fourth in the league in both qualified rides (65) and riding percentage (40.6%).

The Outlaws can guarantee a Top 7 finish by sweeping their three games, while a 2-1 weekend would give them a strong chance of avoiding the Ride-In Game.

And Saturday's showdown brings a little extra motivation.

Kansas City holds a 2-1 advantage in the season series against Missouri, giving the Outlaws an opportunity to claim the four-game rivalry series 3-1 while defending home dirt against the league's regular-season champions.

Missouri may have already secured the No. 1 seed, but Kansas City has its postseason path to protect.

Home dirt could not have come at a better time.

TWO BYES, FOUR TEAMS, ONE FINAL WEEKEND

Missouri has already claimed the regular-season crown, but the race for the final two first-round byes at the PBR Teams Championship is far from settled.

The Thunder enter Kansas City at 23-9, holding a four-game lead over Austin and Carolina and having secured the No. 1 seed for Las Vegas.

Behind them, things get interesting.

The Austin Gamblers and Carolina Cowboys are tied at 19-13, followed by Nashville at 18-14 and Texas at 16-16.

Austin and Carolina control their own destinies. If both teams go 3-0 this weekend, they'll claim the remaining two first-round byes, while the Gamblers can guarantee a Top 3 finish with just two victories.

Nashville and Texas, meanwhile, need perfect 3-0 weekends and some help from the rest of the league to sneak into the Top 3.

Friday's opening slate features a particularly important matchup between the 2025 champion Carolina Cowboys and 2024 champion Austin Gamblers.

The two former champions meet in Game 3, with the winner taking sole possession of second place entering the final two days of the regular season.

Austin holds a 12-9 advantage in the all-time series, but both teams have championship experience and plenty riding on the outcome.

The Gamblers' projected lineup includes MVP frontrunner Jose Vitor Leme, Dalton Kasel, Dener Barbosa, Vinicius Pinheiro Correa and Kaique Pacheco.

Carolina counters with Thiago Salgado, Krash Hevalow, Clay Guiton, Adriano Salgado and Ezekiel Mitchell.

With two first-round byes still available, every qualified ride could change the road to Las Vegas.

KANSAS CITY CUTLINE

The top five teams in the standings have already secured their places above the Championship Ride-In Game cutline.

The other five still have work to do.

Kansas City and Arizona enter Outlaw Days tied at 14-18, with New York and Florida sitting just one game behind at 13-19.

Oklahoma rounds out the standings at 11-21, needing a perfect weekend and considerable help from the rest of the league to avoid the Ride-In Game.

The No. 8, No. 9 and No. 10 teams at the conclusion of the regular season will meet in a three-team showdown in Las Vegas, with only the winner advancing into the eight-team Championship bracket.

Kansas City and Arizona can each secure a Top 7 finish with three wins this weekend, while New York and Florida remain within striking distance but need other results to fall their way.

The Mavericks have a little extra history to chase.

New York enters Kansas City with the most wins and highest ranking in franchise history, and a victory paired with an Arizona loss could put the Mavericks in position to move into the No. 7 seed on the points tiebreaker.

That would allow New York to avoid the Ride-In Game for the first time in franchise history.

The Mavericks' projected lineup features two Rookie of the Year winners in Hudson Bolton and Marco Rizzo, alongside Leandro Zampollo, Afonso Quintino and Leonardo Castro.

New York holds a narrow 5-4 advantage over Kansas City in the all-time series, making Friday's final game an important matchup for both teams.

With three games remaining and five teams still fighting for three guaranteed spots above the cutline, the bottom half of the standings could look very different by Sunday.

ONE LAST SHOT AT MVP GLORY

The regular-season team championship has been decided, but the individual MVP title remains up for grabs.

Three-time PBR World Champion Jose Vitor Leme enters Kansas City leading the race with 2,387.25 aggregate points, 27 qualified rides in 31 outs and an 87.10% riding percentage.

Missouri's Paulo Eduardo Rossetto sits second with 2,207.80 points and 25 qualified rides in 32 outs, leaving 179.45 points separating the two Brazilians.

Leme, already a two-time PBR Teams MVP, can clinch his third regular-season MVP title with two qualified rides this weekend or two buckoffs from Rossetto.

And both contenders will have opportunities to make an early statement Friday night.

Leme draws Super Trooper in Austin's matchup against Carolina, while Rossetto will face Scruggs as Missouri takes on Arizona.

Behind the leading pair, Kansas City's Sandro Batista ranks third with 1,843.40 points and Texas' Brady Fielder sits fourth with 1,780.50.

Leme and Rossetto have set the pace throughout the season, but with the MVP crown officially being awarded in Kansas City, the final three outs could still make all the difference.

REMATCH RECAP

Friday's opening slate brings several familiar rider-bull matchups, with a handful of cowboys looking to settle unfinished business.

Oklahoma's Eduardo Matos gets another shot at Love County after the bull bucked him off in 6.95 seconds last month in Ridgedale, Missouri.

Matos will attempt to even the score in Game 2 when the Wildcatters meet Texas.

Austin's Dalton Kasel also has unfinished business against Lever Action.

Kasel earned a re-ride after 6.32 seconds aboard the bull during this season's Thunder Days and will look to make the whistle this time when the Gamblers face Carolina in Game 3.

Arizona veteran Eduardo Aparecido, meanwhile, knows his Friday opponent particularly well.

Aparecido enters his matchup against Tulsa Time with a 3-1 record against the bull, beginning with a 90.50-point ride in New York City in 2023.

Tulsa Time answered later that year, bucking Aparecido off in 4.29 seconds at the PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast.

But Aparecido has had the upper hand since, recording a 91-point ride in Austin in 2024 and an 87-point ride in Fort Collins, Colorado.

A fourth qualified ride would move the Brazilian veteran to 4-1 against the bovine athlete.

Missouri's Julio Cesar Marques also draws a familiar opponent in What's Poppin, which sent him to the dirt in 2.53 seconds in Fort Worth last January.

The Thunder and Ridge Riders enter Friday's matchup tied 11-11 in their all-time series, adding another layer to a game with postseason implications for Arizona.

The opening night concludes with New York and Kansas City, where Bolton draws Kamikaze, Rizzo meets Desert Twister and Kansas City's Eric Henrique Domingos faces Buck Nasty.

Buck Nasty enters the matchup undefeated in PBR Teams competition, giving Domingos an opportunity to make a statement in front of the hometown crowd.

With Missouri already crowned, four teams chasing the final two first-round byes, five teams fighting to avoid the Ride-In Game and the MVP title still undecided, Kansas City offers one final opportunity to change the road to Las Vegas.
