Key Storylines

Three games remain, two first-round byes are still up for grabs and one final weekend will determine how the road to Las Vegas looks.

The Missouri Thunder may have already claimed the regular-season crown, but with postseason positioning, an MVP title and a few bragging rights still on the line, Outlaw Days is anything but a victory lap.

After holding the top spot in the standings for seven consecutive weeks, Missouri has officially secured the 2026 PBR Teams regular-season championship, No. 1 seed and a first-round bye at the PBR Teams Championship in Las Vegas.

But the Thunder have their sights set on a bigger prize.

After coming just one game short of a championship in 2025, Missouri is looking to turn its regular-season dominance into the franchise's first PBR Teams Championship title. With Paulo Eduardo Rossetto sitting second in the MVP race and Australian Macaulie Leather tied for the third-most 90-point rides this season with four, the Thunder have plenty of firepower heading into the postseason.

And while Missouri's position is secure, Saturday night's final Show-Me State Showdown against the Kansas City Outlaws is still worth fighting for.

Kansas City enters its home event holding a 2-1 advantage in the season series, meaning another victory would give the Outlaws a 3-1 edge over their in-state rivals for the year.

For Missouri, it's all about bragging rights. For Kansas City, defending home dirt and staying clear of the Championship's Play-In Game makes the rivalry that much more important.

Meanwhile, the New York Mavericks are reaching new heights, and they're not finished climbing.

With the most wins in franchise history and their highest ranking ever, the Mavericks enter Kansas City with an opportunity to make even more history.

Another New York victory paired with an Arizona Ridge Riders loss could move the Mavericks into the No. 7 seed on the points tiebreaker, allowing them to avoid the Championship's Play-In Game for the first time in franchise history.

With two Rookie of the Year winners, 2025 honoree Hudson Bolton and 2026 honoree Marco Rizzo, in the lineup, New York has an opportunity to turn its late-season momentum into a more favorable postseason path.

And the Mavericks won't have to wait long for a chance to make their case, facing the hometown Kansas City Outlaws in Friday night's finale.

At the top of the standings, the battle for second place is shaping up to be a championship-caliber chess match.

The 2025 PBR Teams Champion Carolina Cowboys and 2024 Champion Austin Gamblers enter Kansas City tied in the standings, with Austin holding the advantage in the points tiebreaker.

The two former champions will go head-to-head Friday night, with the winner taking sole possession of second place and gaining an advantage in the race for one of the two remaining first-round byes at the PBR Teams Championship.

Both teams know what it takes to win a title, but with the Nashville Stampede also in the hunt, there's little room for error as the regular season draws to a close.

And while the team standings are nearing their final form, the individual MVP race is still very much alive.

Three-time PBR World Champion Jose Vitor Leme enters Kansas City atop the MVP standings with 2,387.25 aggregate points, 27 qualified rides in 31 outs and an impressive 87.10% riding percentage.

But Missouri's Paulo Eduardo Rossetto isn't far behind, sitting second with 2,207.80 aggregate points and 25 qualified rides in 32 outs.

Just 179.45 points separate the two Brazilians heading into the final three games of the regular season, leaving Rossetto with an opportunity to close the gap and Leme looking to hold on to the top spot for the third time in his career.

The regular-season MVP will officially be crowned this weekend, and with a race this tight, every qualified ride could make the difference.

With Missouri already crowned, Kansas City defending home dirt, New York chasing franchise history, former champions fighting for postseason positioning and the MVP race coming down to the wire, Outlaw Days promises one final showdown before the road leads to Las Vegas.
