Caden “Bunch” Bunch is a first-generation bull rider from Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and a proud member of the Cherokee Nation. Some call him the next “Cherokee Kid” — a nod to fellow Oklahoman and mentor Ryan Dirteater, who’s helped guide Bunch as he’s developed into one of the top young riders from Indigenous Country. Bunch made a name for himself early, winning both the High School State and National Championships as a freshman before earning a full rodeo scholarship to Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
In college, he wasted no time proving he belonged, winning four of 10 events as a freshman and entering the College National Finals Rodeo ranked No. 1 in the nation. His success quickly caught the attention of Cord McCoy, who drafted him to the Oklahoma Freedom in the inaugural 2022 PBR Teams Draft.
By 2023, Bunch came into his own, finishing 11th in the Teams MVP race and delivering one of the Freedom’s biggest playoff moments — an 86.25-point walk-off ride on Spooky that sent his team into the next round. That same season, he logged his career-high ride of 90.5 points on Hoka Hey in Greensboro, North Carolina, cementing his place among the league’s most promising young talents. In 2024, he qualified for his first PBR World Finals, finishing No. 14 in the Unleash The Beast standings and proving his consistency against the sport’s best.
Now riding for the New York Mavericks, Bunch brings quiet confidence, sharp focus, and a reputation for showing up when it counts. Off the dirt, he keeps things simple — Chick-fil-A, Mexican food, and his Cadillac, his self-proclaimed prized possession. His first concert was Kid Rock at the PBR World Finals, his pump-up song is “BigXThaPlug,” and when the dust settles, he’s probably DoorDashing Chili’s and cheering for the Oklahoma City Thunder. His go-to gas-station snack is a chicken Crispito, and he won’t nod his head without his blue good-luck socks and underwear.
Level-headed, confident, and Oklahoma tough, Bunch rides with calm precision and quiet edge — the kind of cowboy who doesn’t need to say much for everyone to know exactly who he is.
